I wouldn't make the distinction between languages, but certainly platforms (Android vs. iPhone). iPhone is ~the~ mobile platform to develop for to make money, and almost nothing is open source. Android originally ONLY allowed free apps on its market, and there's so much open source, even the OS.

I agree that if Sam and Roc really loved the app and don't want their tons of work to go to waste, they should open source it. Some guy will pick it up, find a few friends, and find a way to pay for the server, and keep developing it.

But they don't. They only want money. Prove me wrong.
