The link on "producer update" is a broken link.

Gah... I'm getting desperate for more solid information on this game. I spent a solid couple of hours playing it at PAX Prime 2009, where everyone who signed up for their beta list were given guaranteed beta access... and now it's been over a year later and they're still in friends and family alpha testing?

I'm still extremely excited for the game because 1) The combat is a lot of fun, and 2) The game is gorgeous.

HOWEVER... there are more games coming out just like it that are getting more attention! BSG Online and Black Prophecy in particular. And with both of them being free-to-play (and Black Prophecy looking just as polished and professional as Jumpgate), it's going to be a hard sell to get gamers to stick with a subscription model Jumpgate...

Oh, and in case there's any confusion -- my comment is not insinuating that Massively isn't obtaining or reporting on enough information. What I'm saying is that NetDevil seems to be dropping the ball in a horrible way. I can't think of very many games that can get away with stringing along their fans for two years with nothing but forums, some mostly cinematic trailers, and a dozen screenshots to keep them satiated. We need more news! We need a beta!

The definitely seem to be taking the Blizzard "it's done when it's done" approach. It was in beta in like 2008 I think and the feedback was so poor they went back to the drawing board and did a massive redesign.

Hopefully it turns out well, it is a game I am looking forward to.

"The details are a bit sparser than we'd like, but we'll keep our scanners peeled for more Jumpgate Evolution news as it happens."

What a very polite way of putting it. I have been following this game for quite a while, and while I will definitely be trying it out as soon as I can... I am losing faith in it. Not to bring up the competition, but the team at Reactor has an advantage with their marketing department making sure Black Prophecy is out there, whereas this Producer Update might as well have said "We are working on things that you already knew we were working on, and they are being added to a game that we have been making." Dunno if this is more a Net Devil problem or Codemasters though... hate to blame a developer for a problem with a publisher.

Still though.. I want my Quantar ship soon please :)

Unless the "free to play" Black Prophecy proves to be actually more expensive to play than Jumpgate's subscription I'm afraid this game no longer stands a chance now that it has moved so far away from the direction Evolution was original heading towards.

Jumpgate Evolution's subscription is the only way to tell these two games apart now. Such a shame, it was all looking potentially so good a couple of years ago.

Even with what little info there is out there regarding the "new direction", it doesn't look interesting at all.

Not to mention that after spending just a very short time on their "new forums" and seeing a couple of people actually run off, as in banned, after what looks to be an established clique ganging up on them, and a very very inept moderator assisting them, I don't see any positive ever growing out of the game. I mean these people were being very tame in comparison to any other game forums I visit, and this mod was inexplicably acting like they were the devil incarnate or something. Just bringing it up because to me it showed some very unprofessional stuff going on there, and that usually reflects how the company as a whole is.

EVE Online has killed off all competition, even Star Trek Online is floundering. The Klingon faction has all but been wiped out and is dying. When Incarna is released, I'm not holding my breath for the other titles, such as this one and STO.

EVE will be dead as soon as the first fun space pilot MMO comes out. EVE has as much action as bingo night down at the Elk Lodge.

I hate to say it but 2 years of freind/family Alpha after a full redesign while other titles have been in deve that long and look MUCH closer to release in the same or similar genre of games....yeah sorry but i will not b hanging on waiting for this to hit shelves.
I've abandonded the forums, and I dont check thier site for news. hell, at this point i likely wouldn't use a beta key if i got one. Just too many other quality titles coming out to feed my spacefaring needs.

What are these crazy mad titles that are on the horizon in the space action shooter genre coming out that are so cool you would poo poo your beta key? Besides BP, there is nothing in the pipe coming anytime soon.

Black Prophecy
Earthrise (while not a space shooter it is sci-fi)
The old republic

just to name a few big titles coming relatively soon.
Like i said 2 years from announcement with no public closed/open beta is too dang long. Especially with the severe lack of info on the game coming out of netdevil.
