Someone I know is in the beta. It may be a little rough around the edges but it's very impressive considering the size of the dev team. Very polished UI. I think it will do well.

Menace to Society (M2S) is prepared to dominate this game. Join us, or fight against our tyrannical rule.

Can't wait for launch.

PPM could really be something after a year or two of content patches. As it is right now it's little else but an EVE clone; the game plagiarizes nearly everything from it.

and thats a big problem with the game. the people who would be this game's biggest audience (Battle Tech players and MechWarrior fans), dont give two shits about EVE or the way it plays. all they want are clans, some persistence, land grabbing, stuff like. the idea that you have to play an economics game that has mechs is beyond stupid to me in that sense.

but since Chromehounds no longer exists (same with Steel Battalion), and the other mech MMO is like in development hell theres nothing else they can play that has persistence and mechs in it. its too bad.

Yes, and the leveling up is something like eve too, you get 1 Extension Points every minute, that is 1440 EP every day to spend, so, it is a good way to start when the game launches, so you have that advantage, like eve.

This game is eve-online ON SURFACE.

Seriously, I've played it for a few days about a year ago (while it still was in closed beta) and it's so much of an eve-clone it's not even funny.

If you played a year ago for a few days... You should come back and see how much the game has changed.

Perpetuum is not even real sandbox, it's a typical game based on gear and selfishness where the player doesn't really need to talk or play with others.

the player mines and mines and mines or kills and kills and kills to get money to buy bigger bots.

I haven't seen any politics or battle for ground control cept some kind of deathmatch FFA island.

Players must work together now. The market is only seeded by NPCs order that consist of light bots and some mods for them.

The rest has to be player manufactured.

This has made the game build a community of corps working together.

Doesn't mean you can't play the game on your own.

You can do the same in stEVE and never talk to anyone.....

I played Beta for quite a while, and while its an OK game, the similarities to EVE are just shocking.

I mean EVERYTHING is the same, apart from the graphics.

Perpetuum doesnt have anywhere near the depth though, and the terrain that you need to navigate around sucks all the sense of epic scale terrains.

Also your bots feel Tiny rather than massive monsters of death, as you have nothing to give a sense of scale.

No the inner islands are safe from pvp. You are open to PVP if you leave the inner alpha islands and venture out on the outer beta islands.

Those islands have outposts that corps can fight to control.

And is there a point where you really have to leave the inner islands ( like eve - you 'can' stay in 1.0 Sec, but you wont have much to do.)

The question really is... Does this cater to what Eve players call 'carebears'?

@Temmah About catering to what EVE calls carebears.

All games have them. You're always going to have the carebear industry types that will sit back in safe areas manufacturing their stuffs.

But to get one type of ore needed to manufacture Mechs and Heavy Mechs is only on the pvp islands.

Now of course that ore can be mined by the more adventrous industry types and brought to the inner safe islands for sale.

But of course there are going to be plenty of carebears in the game.

Do I think it will be nothing but carebears? NO. But lets face it all games need carebears / pve only people. They help feed the pvpers......

I agree, LordxMugen. PPM wanted to tap into the EVE market when they should have been going for the BT/MW crowd which is game-less (and hasn't seen a MW title in over a decade).

I think all BT/MW will find Perp to me a nice game to play. The ground tactics are very good.

The game flows nicely when it comes to tactics for pvp.

And well they are mechs. It may not be FPS, but still they are mechs!
