NCsoft isn't resting on its winged laurels after last month's release of its Assault on Balaurea expansion. Aion's 2.1 patch is just around the corner, judging by its debut this week on the Korean test servers and the associated patch notes that have been posted to the North American PowerWiki.
The update is brimming with the usual NPC, quest, and instance bug fixes, as well as a reduction on the prerequisites for the greater stigma quests. That said, the most interesting additions to the patch are the loot table tweaks. In a nutshell, it seems NCsoft is finally heeding the cries of players to do something about Aion's abyssmal loot drop rates. The patch notes indicate "greatly increased" drop rates on gear from instance and field bosses as well as regular mobs. There also appears to be an across-the-board hike in the drop rate of fluxes, skill manuals, and stigma stones.
While this news might drive broker prices to new levels of ridiculousness over the next little while, Aion's economy will probably look a little different after 2.1 goes live and supply overtakes demand.

"The drop rates are too low for the damn KOREANS"
Haha, now if this isn't an indication of problems with the game i don't know what is...

Is anyone else having problems with ActionScript errors on this site?
I can't open it without them popping once or twice, after which i need to shutdown plugin-container process in order to continue browsing :S

TOO LATE? Too late was one month after release when myself along with the general population of games that tried Aion quit this POS.

Awesome. This game keeps getting better and better. After 5 months, I still greatly enjoy it. THat's never happened to me before with an MMO.

Weren't the loot table problems and drop rates supposed to be tweaked a YEAR ago or something like that? It seemed every update I heard about was supposed to fix that, but I guess it never happened huh? Pathetic.

Drop rates have been greatly increased three times. Yet no one has ever seen these mythical increases.

I don't care what anyone says.
I LOVE this game!!
With 2.0 it's only gotten better, and it continues to improve with every patch and update.
Sure it's not everyones cup of tea...and you are entitled to not like that game thats sure....but what I still don't get is all the active hate.
I was told 'not' to try this game on this very site...but I did it anyways and I'm glad i did.
So just remember you curious folks. Don't take the naysayers at face value. Yes this game has flaws and it's not gonna hand you anything on a silver platter...but give it a try...you just might like it.

Not every naysayer is just spouting useless bile. I pre-ordered, played for 3 months at release, took my time leveling with friends to experience the world, but a sad excuse for endgame, terrible fort sieges, and coin-flip crafting drove me away. I recently returned to experience the "amazing" changes with 2.0. I didn't see anything worth sticking around for, it was just as disappointing as before.
NCsoft spun a lot of hype on Aion and it fell flat, period.

I never said they were lying but you guys have to remember this...Just because Aion was not your cup of tea does not mean that NCsoft or the game failed at all.
Aion just wasn't for you, and thats ok.
However there are plenty of people out there who love this game and who play it actively. I can't tell you how man fun experiences I've had and how many great people that I've met in that beautifully rendered world.
So please...the game isn't for you...and thats fine. I don't like EVE, (and I bought a copy of that as well), but I'd never stop anyone from trying it out.
It's that simple really. ^_^
