That video could almost be described as a PR disaster, it looks shoddily put together & doesn't showcase the game well at all.

If it does anything it highlights that this game is a long way from ready, animations & effects need more polish and instead of it looking like a fireworks carnival gone wrong they need to rethink some of those overly garish flashy effects, a little more subtlety would make this a lot easier on the eyes, and contact "flash" should be restricted to bladed weapons other kinds of "contact" effects for other weapon types would make a lot of sense using 1 effect for all contacts is cheap & tacky & shows a lack of imagination & understanding of comic-effect in a moving medium.

Wow. Combat in Marvel Ultimate Alliance looks far better and more strategic than that. And it doesn't cost 15 bucks a month.

Okay maybe it's time to get a refund on my pre-purchase.

Wow....the transitional animations between attacks/actions look terribad.
the only character that looked even remotely decent was the black/gold guy with the shortstaff @ the 1:02 mark. At leasr his animations looked varied and finished.
I have to agree with others even at 780p rez the models look at best on Par with WoW, why this requires a dual core 2.4Ghz is beyond me. I doubt the extra 2 months of development time are going to be enough to "fix" the appearance of the game.

I also noticed that a LOT of characters had 2-4 attack animations that repeated in set senquence, not sure if thats due to the player or if those were "auto" attack animations, either way it does NOT give a comic book superhero vibe at all.
shame I was looking forward to this. glad I haven't pre-ordered :/

someone should tell them that it's not the race for the most particles on a single screen that makes a game fun :P

Well this is SOE and they love their particle effects over there. I guess they think more particle effects means "Fun & Exciting". I still remember when they "introduced" the NGE to SWG and they even had a particle effect that shot off when you mounted your speeder bike.

I think the only thing good about this game is gonna be the CGI intro...

As someone who was (past tense) looking forward to DCUO, this beta combat clip was both disappointing and ugly.

On the bright side, if SWTOR & GW2 are released around the same time, then DCUO is going to take a huge hit. And not in a good way.

So I'm a DCUO fan and I'm buying the game. I'm not a huge graphics/animation person. Back when I was a kid, we played text base flight sims! So I'm not the best judge on these things. But I agree, the animations do need work even if they are good enough for me. I know comic readers are picky about their art.

I'm not really seeing the animation errors that everyone else is claiming. And it did look like a big mess. But that's pvp. People running around killing each other. The graphics don't look overly impressive. But for an MMO, it's good enough. At least it seems natural and not some RP staged thing.

Damn.. I want to find something I like in this video but I just can't. Pretty disappointing effort. I didn't see one character toon that looked good and that's hard for a superhero mmo. Not to mention the cheap particle effects and animation.

Good thing they are delaying the game. I really hope the response to this video shows the team what they need to work on: Animation, Effects, Character Customization (why does everything look so dull..). And if the majority of builds require you to use a weapon I'm pretty sure the game will fail.

I'm a huge DC and MMO fan, please don't screw it up Sony; this was supposed to be my new favorite thing.

At the time of writing 100% of comments were negative about this video and I would have to agree. No wonder they delayed it and it just goes to show that a good IP and the "best" team do not automatically make a good game.

It was so bad, it almost makes me think that it is a marketting gimmick so when the "real" game is released next year it will look a million times better than this. Almost.

Having watched the video again I have changed my mind, it was worse than I first thought...! :)

It looks just like any other console game, I guess us PC players expect more.

Oh dear dear dear...

I have hopes for this game...but...

Those animations are terrible. I mean, there really are no two ways about it. They are just awful.

I mean, I wasn't expecting animations of the same quality as something like Tekken, but these look worse than the original Street Fighter 2...

Agree with other comments above. This is a PR mistake, the animations look like they've come from the first Team Fortress.
