Hmmm. I'm not sure a delay is going to fix those animations.

Agreed. Unimpressive graphics.

Combat's a lot like the combat in STO. Big ol' clusterfudge. Yep... looks like a console game.

The attack animations are not fluid at all. Also kind of disturbing to see pretty much every hero there using a weapon...that does not strike me as DC Universe at all.

I can't believe the animations are so poor either - it's like 3 frames per attack animation - it's abysmal for a new MMO. EverQuest had more fluid animations than that back in 1999! I couldn't play a game nowadays with such stilted character movements.

I'm a big fan of the DC universe, but that video has killed most of my interest in DCUO.

Maybe they're trying to go all comic-y, but I hate the 'flash attacks' every hit has, even for the slower massive characters.

I don't think I could stand that. It makes sense for speed/sword based characters, but for everyone? No thanks.

Definitely looks chaotic. Makes me think its a clip of a PvP fight. Glad to finally see what combat may look like at launch with all kinds of powers going off everywhere. Messy... but could be fun.

This looks a LARP version of what I thought this game would be, clumsy, odd, unimpressive, I feel unfulfilled.

If you step back, this game looks to have the same quality animations as Everquest, which was developed all those years ago. It looked like an EQ raid on YouTube and for some reason, because of this 'comic realism' the characters look chubby and gaudy in the video. Superheros are supposed to be cool right, these guys look like tools. The animation of the guy getting kicked back by the minotaur at 45 seconds in is almost inexcusable, even for beta footage.

They've gone to such lengths to stress the importance of having such a creative artistic team and all the big names and I'm struggling to see the merit, especially when stylized realism is the talk of the town these days, and we've seen much much better examples recently. Great artwork is useless if it's rendered and animated so badly.

I know realism is 'hard to do' but the results from this approach just don't impress. I don't know the superhero MMO market, but I think people are after a bit more than shoddy animations of people standing around in a empty street throwing super sized fireballs at each other. Where are the complex combat moves, the powers that have been touted as being unique and exciting. This is hugely disappointing, I figured this would be so much better having such a strong IP. The combat looks like a 3D version of the arcade game Golden Axe.

SOE are really struggling to deliver these days, this and the bugbear of The Agency loom large, then as far as I know, they are out of ideas until EQ Next.

I can say they shifted the release date of this because of the forthcoming cataclysm, not the Blizzard product later this year, but when senior Sony management step in and start making some huge changes.

That's kind of disturbing. That video looks like an old arcade game from the 90s. I already decided not to pre-order the game beforehand. After watching that video I'm even more resolute in passing up on this game (sadly).

I dunno...that is...unimpressive. So far Marvel's Super Hero Squad Online has a more superhero comic-like tone, polish, and presentation, and that's being targeted at the tweeners.

I suspect I may have to wait until the in-development Marvel Universe Online launches to get my spandex super-sized.

I was sort of interested in seeing this game, but that was bad.... the world enviroment looks ok, but effects and action animation are horrible. Going to be a dud before it launches, push this game back, get it right.

I'm a big fan of DCUO.

But even I got to admit that video was not very flattering for the game at all.

I have to assume there was no review process in house.

I can't wait to play Dude-With-A-Baseball-Hat-And-A-Fire-Ax-Man. Does anyone know if I have to PvP to unlock that powerset, or does it come in one of the separate DLC packages?

To add to what many have observed...

...this video reminds the clunky aminations of Warhammer combat promo videos before the game was released. Each of the toons look like automated robots doing some rudimentary simple task in some old Soviet propaganda movie. Though that's not a bad thing in of itself...but for a high combat superhero game this is quite jarring, disconcerting and disappointing.

If that's what the style the devs are intending...then it's not my cup of tea; I think I'll give it a skip. If it's something they greatly wish to improve upon, perhaps they need to hire the guys who did that wonderful cinematic for them to nail down the motions. Because that's how the action should be IMO.

Hopefully this extra extension before release will give the devs ample of opportunity and time to improve upon the motions if they wish to truely have an action based superhero MMO as they're stating DCUO would be.

And I now I know why there was so little information available on this game.

I would not be surprised if this never sees the light of day. SOE might decide to avoid another APB and just cut their losses early.

I am not of a fan of Champions Online or CoH/V but both look better and have the polish and content advantage (most likely).

Why would a comics fan play this game? To talk to a Superman NPC with an exclamation mark hovering about his head?

Next please.

But wait! Everyone said this was going to bury CO!

And I think you get to do missions with popular heroes, at least you could in a video I saw a year ago.

It will still bury CO, no matter how bad it is. Just because it has the DC stamp on it. Not to mention, it's not to hard to bury CO, hell CoH is currently burying CO.
