Linux? This is the 21st century and people can keep their hobbies out of gaming machines.

It needs to run Windows games and not almost run them with Wine. Even Apple usres have the option of Win 7.

You can of course now purchase Netbooks with decent graphics, dual core, 1330x768 screen and Win 7, which are decent and very cheap gaming computers.

Linux? What MMO's are ported to run on Linux? Battlestar and Runescape are both browser based MMO's, so for right now it looks like this is designed primarily for browser based games.

I don't think people need a Farmville fix that badly...

Linux?

Battlestar Galactica Online and RUNESCAPE?

You know, why not just buy a Asus EeePC? This is nothing more than a shittier version of laptop; great concept, terrible implementation.

I seriously wonder who comes up with these products sometimes.

(Side-note: I thought we already had portable PC game-players; they're called laptops.)

The Linux comment is a fair one.

Though I'm down with the concept.

On a personal note, that Asus Eee PC is awful.
I have one laying around and I came close to throwing it in the bin. WPoS.

Hey Pan, if you don't want that EeePC, mind giving it to me? I love mine and a second one would be nice.

I actually got winXP and World of Warcraft running on mine. Not well enough to raid, but enough to check the AH and do some questing.

Your judging it based on the first image and bit of information we have ever heard about the product?

Heck, at least give it a chance! Theres literally no information about it at all, and making an opinion about it now is just short sighted and idiotic

I'm confused by this product. What does it do, other than play browser games?

They have these portable gaming things already .... they are called laptops. A device like this is just ridiculous.

I agree. We should start a betting pool to see how long it takes for it to be an epic fail.

I say 18 months.

Honestly, you can hardly call a laptop a portable gaming device.

My gameboy beats a laptop when it comes to gaming. :)

Laptops are too expensive, too big, too heavy, they consume way too much power to actually enjoy anything and then some.

Well if they can keep the price low since it is just running Linux and not Windows I might be interested... maybe. If it cost too much I would rather invest in a netbook or laptop.

Linux solution for PC games: http://www.winehq.org/about/

I have been wondering when a company would start to take the MMO genre in this direction. It is not a bad idea but price factor and actual game play for Direct X 9-11 is an issue. What games would be playable? What is the functionality of the device like?

I am surprised that a Mac device has not gone in this direction for PC games and Console games merged into one device. For games to become more accessible you need an affordable device that is compact and extremely adaptable with the functionality of a home computer. Price is an issue. LOL_it does sound like we are talking about a laptop!

At least the ipad is just the start for a new direction in terms of hardware. I do like Panasonic products.

i think it's more because while the games that are made for the iphone now are okay the regulations and stupid programming language the iphone and that insist on using would hold big projects back (especially when the current devs on the platform probably make more money selling an addictive game like angry birds than something considered a full release for a large pricepoint

Well I thought only complete morons would buy the iPad, and I was right (zing!).

Only complete morons would buy the Jungle, so... future is bright for panasonic?

Apparently you can fool some of the people all of the time. Rented an iPad for a week to check compantibility with our HTML5 software and was severly underwhelmed. The fingerpainting is cute, but gets old real quick - especially when you want to do simple things like text editing (a cursor keypad woudl have solved that). The lack of multitasking is also a pain and I'm sure that fingerprint oil covered screen is spreading disease even now. I never could see the use of a pad except for simple input tasks. Even being able to use a stylus would make it more useful. As for iOS, I just love another crowded desktop UI.

If you don't create anything, don't play games and don't mind lugging a brick around (yes it was surprisingly heavy) so you can view a minority of Web pages (no Flash of course) and maybe look at Youtube, then this is the pad for you.
