vampires are scary. 90-pound fashion-conscious vampires with over/undersized hats are not scary.

Neither are pasty sparkle-in-the-sun vampires.

There's very little anyone can do to make vampires scary again.

I like those Vampires.

Too bad every Korean MMO ever made ended up being failures.

I still don't trust any game with the same Aion writing.

The difference is that NCWest was tasked to translate the Korean writing from NCSoft after the game was finished. In this case, the western company is entirely rewriting the story before the game is finished (ie: when critical changes can actually be made.) The same goes for the rest of TERAs westernization.

Will it turn out better? God knows. But the situation is definitely better off than Aion's.

Guy in charge of Aion's release in the West: Brian Knox

Guy in charge of TERA's release in the West: Brian Knox

Use a search engine to see all the claims he made about Aion before release. Check to see how many of those were false or misleading at best. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice....

I like the small hat! In fact, those are the first outfits from TERA I've seen that I actually do like. They should have ditched that big bulky Final Fantasy clone race and gone with vampires instead. ;P

Except now Knox will 1. Have learned from Aion's failure (hopefully) and 2. Actually have control over western development as opposed to being a translation puppet of the korean NCSoft branch.

Wade - But with TERA there is actual testing going on atm to ensure we don't get a failure like Aion. Aion was fail because of the gold sellers to start, the rifting was annoying, the imbalance of races, the imbalance of lands for races, and NCwest having to answer to the Korean NCsoft. When the game has an open beta then we will be able to tell if the game will be another failure like Aion.

I'm also skeptical. Terra looks every day more like another Aion, same as GW2. Just pretty pictures and nothing more. If I want pretty pictures I go to the cinema and watch a 3D movie, has almost the same gameplay as the Korean garbage MMO's.
