How can a game that has merged so many servers be thriving what are they down to three or four now? I mean you load up the game and it's like a sea of greyed out servers.

I think you are painting a very unrealistic picture, like the Vanguard fans do every time someone talks about how dead that game is.

This game was so screwed up they fired nearly everyone associated with it including Jacobs....then the owner got as far away from what they owned as they could and the author thinks he can just perform a Jedi mind wipe ! You can't be serious.

Bit of deliberate misinformation in this thread; for a start there are 9 servers not 3 or 4 :)

The 2 factions are now very well balanced against each other.

Most of the classes are now well balanced with some buffs to the marauder, engineer and magus arriving soon.

The servers are all pretty equal in their tier 4 population, most have at max a 3% difference in the population but there are 2 with a rough 5% difference.

If your interested in trying it out this rvr pack + the rvr changes all go live on the public test server this month, with an estimated 1-2 months of testing needed so looking like a December release.
Now I know some have said there is no way they can develop all this in time; but what your not aware of is that they have been developing these changes for some length of time already so yes they are going to be able to do what they say.

They have plans for a second rvr pack to be released 6-8 months after the first one so although you cant say if the game will close or not they at least have plans for almost a year so they themselves are clearly not anticipating any closure.

I think the rvr pack + open rvr changes will bring alot of players back; if not it will at least make the game more fun until guild wars 2 comes out in a years time.

Seconded, the game is fun-as is. If these changes prove to be what they look like they will be WAR just might become THE most underrated MMO

Listen to Pandemic, he knows his shit :)

and another thing people might have missed is that WAR is now serviced by Mythic even in Europe, GOA is not hosting the server anymore.

I am also not sure why some people have said the game will fail as it doesnt have enough pve?

The game needs to have less pve in it; not more. You want all good loot to drop from pvp to encourage players to do more pvp which is so much more fun than pve.

The way the 2 populations are pretty evenly split now in WAR is quite good; take a look at Aion where you have a server with 87% Elyos, 13% pve and 0% asmo. Thats not a good situation to have.

Well Carrie agrees with you she wants less PVE too that is why she cut the PVE games throat and left it to bleed out in an alley. Never mind that 80% of the people who purchased the game left when these improvements started to happen, never mind that the vast majority of people on their own forums and on all news sites that report about WAR think it's an incredibly stupid idea.

Damn the Torpedo’s she is driving this train wreck straight to hell, but hey at least you know what would happen if you ever got to develop a video game.

@balamoor

Have you actually ever actually played the game or read the forums? First, these changes are getting a good reception on the forums. Perhaps you should read another MMO forum, like WoW's, to get an idea of what good and bad reception is.

Second, what are these improvements that drove 80% of the players away? The game lost most of its players between October 2008 and December 2008, which then followed with a steady decline throughout most of 2009. If you look at the period of patches and updates between October and December, you won't find any significant changes to either PvP or PvE. Unless you think the Knight of the Blazing Sun and Blackguard are the reason the game fell apart.

WAR is the game it is. Posting angry, misleading, rants isn't going to turn WAR into the PvE focused game you want it to be. I agree that WAR could use some more PvE content. I think most people would agree with that. But, being that WAR is a PvP focused game, PvE has to play second fiddle until they get PvP working like it should. Otherwise, you end up with the kind of game WAR was at launch (ie, a mess).

What PVE changes are you referring to? I havent played PVE in WAR very much so not sure what changes these are.

Did 80% of players leave WAR because of PVE changes? This is news to me; where did you get this statistic from? I am surprised to hear this; as a PVP game I would be shocked if that many players brought the game for its PVE and not its PVP.

The feedback concerning the rvr pack and the open rvr changes is mostly very very good. It resolves alot of issues players have been asking to be fixed. There is some negative feedback; although not very much, most of it in fact from misunderstanding what has been said.

What are these news articles that say the rvr pack + open rvr changes are an incredibly stupid idea? I havent actually seen any. Can you provide any links?

I also dont know what you mean by the majority of feedback on the official forum has been negative; it hasnt its been overwhelmingly positive.

I cant myself see what is wrong with the proposed changes, its some very good things there.

Deadalon? Hello? Where are you?

Pandemic is right the game is thriving. They need to come up with a good solution for Badlands though. It's just a little too crowded and it's killing/stressing that server with lag and other issues. I am sure they are diligently working to fix it.

How many times has this game been re-worked now?

Obvious failure is obvious.

Its 10x better than it was a launch and a hell of a lot of fun to play. Except for this week where it seems the T3 Order packed up and went home.

This RVR change will piss alot of people off and make them rage quit because now they will have to think and not just steamroll things. In the end, it is a major step in the right direction and while the game does have alot of issues, its still more fun to play then WoW.

LOL

Haven't touched WoW since beta, so I wouldn't know.

But yeah.. WAR is fun - doesn't change the fact that reworking the game - what 3 times now is clearly a sign of failure, not once but multiple times.

yadda yadda yadda, etc.

A failure at launch, yes. At this point, no longer a failure from the point of view of an active player.

If it pisses off a lot players and they rage quit how is that good for WAR's small population?

Also, I'd have to disagree that the game is 10x better since launch. What good is the all those changes if you can't even login. "LOL"

There's still the same issues that plagued it's launch, 2 years later. If you play on Badlands you know what I'm talking about. Mythic can't even keep the server online reliably.
