Couldn't agree more this guy is the absolute embodiment of everything WRONG with corporation structures in america, he's nothing but immense ego, and pr bs without any substance or quality.

LOL "Smart Talk". He should re-name it "Endless Drivel". The guy must not have anyone who will actually listen to him talk, or he's a mute.

If anyone in this situation embodies what's wrong with the corporate world in terms of being a charlatan, it's David Allen, not Derek Smart.

Smart makes himself an easy target with his theatrical handling of most things. His behavior has struck a dissonant chord among those who follow the MMO industry because it's so shamelessly unprofessional. And he tends to come across as... a total douche.

David Allen, on the other hand, comes across as an honest guy, with a legitimate passion for giving his gift of MMO design to the world. He's the kind of guy whose side you want to be on. If he were capable of (gaming) world-changing MMO design, those would be great traits. Unfortunately for everyone involved, he's not just incapable. He's incompetant.

Not just a little incompetant. PROFOUNDLY incompetant. One can't help but wonder how the guy who thought intentionally making a WoW clone was a good idea arrived in such a position of power. Unlike Vanguard and Brad McQuaid, we can't use "drugs" as a scapegoat this time. And despite the fact that everyone at Quest Online alledgedly knew it was a profoundly bad idea, they continued developing it under that model.

Lovable incompetants and yes men. They are the true villains in this situation. Not the douche bags. At least you can see them coming.

Sidenote, Although, let's be honest here... how the eff does Derek Smart still have a job?! I guess considering this company poured millions of dollars into Algenon makes it less surprising. But come on... the game already had the worst reputation of any MMO, then your most public figure makes it even worse with childish buffoonery. What planet are these people on? Derek Smart should go the way of David Allen and Brad McQuaid at least until he develops a little tact and professionalism. And maturity.

You had to be laughing your ass off when you wrote this. Derek Smart and no drama? LOL.

The game is toast, and at the root of it, Derek Smart is the reason.

I also find it amusing that, for all of DS's bravado about "crushing David Allen in court", he had to pay David Allen to "settle" the lawsuit.

In other words, QOL and Derek Smart got their butts handed to them in court.

Too damn funny.

Oh, and for the record, I think David Allen is a no-talent hack that needs to stay out of the gaming realm. Horizons and Alganon have proved that much about him. But compared to Derek "Smart", Allen is a certifiable genius.

So the end result, after all the mindless walls of text, was: Allen - gets a big suitcase of cash and Smart end up with Alganon, aka the worst MMO of all time
