While the masses here in the U.S. are currently enjoying a free-to-play version of Lord of the Rings Online, our MMO gaming brethren across the pond are still wondering when precisely their version will go free-to-play. As such, they organized a rally to peacefully protest the delays, as we see in today's One Shots sent in to us by Henric. He writes in to explain it for those of us who weren't there; "EU players marched through Bree [last] Saturday on the Laurelin server to protest against the lack of information from Turbine and Codemasters about the F2P update in Europe. My character Henric is in front. We thought this would be a nice way to let off some steam. The event was RP friendly and over 50 attendees showed up. No server hamsters where harmed during the march."
Have you captured an interesting slice of life from your favorite game? If so, share it with us! Email your images in to us here at oneshots@massively.com along with your name, the name of the game, and a description of what we're seeing. Please make sure your image is at least 1024px wide with little to no visible UI elements so we can use it! Yours could be the next one we feature here on Massively!

Lol, nice one :)
As far as i'm concerned, i'm staying on US server, better community, plus, i'm not doing all the leveling again.

Well hopefully it will be better for them as far as bugs and support goes, forum access and ease of use has gone downhill drastically.

God damn, WORD!
Everyone has been giving Turbine a drop to the knees for a royal "B" as if they invented butter from a can. Meanwhile, I keep telling people to go check out the tech support page from the forums and see what T-bine is doing with all that lovely new cash they've been using to wash their million dollar cars with. Here's a hint. Constant account screw ups. People losing their VIP status 24 hours after becoming VIPs. Loss of Turbine Points. Never receiving Turbine Points. Turbine Points breaking into your home and assaulting your dog. An email ticket system that DOESN'T tell you when the ticket has been received, and worst yet, a customer service hotline that is NOT 1-800. Do you know what that means? It means that calling customer support for Turbine, (and it is Turbine's, not specific to Lotro) is a LONG DISTANCE CALL! I guarantee you, if we weren't living in the age of cell phones, you'd be pissing your pants with rage at that thought.
But, anyway, the game is awesome. So... It's cool.

Glad they had fun, but 50 people probably pales in comparison to whatever they have had on their forums. :D

I've been waiting for a while to play this when it went F2P.
I got dismayed at the shambles of the EU release and in the end I caved and signed up for the US servers. More servers to play on anyway.

Standing in a virtual town without the numbers to crash a server won't get anyone's attention.

It constantly amazes me that people want Free to Play.
It's like stuffing money into your pockets and walking through a bad area of town. Do you want to be mugged?
Apparently so, because that's basically what Free to Play means...

The difference between the 'support' and general management of Lotro in Europe compared with the US is just mind boggling. I remember when I tried to start playing that game, I was online within about 10 mins of making the decision, playing what was the latest version (forget the name of the expansion)... unfortunately I'd ended up with the US version and I was in Europe at the time. So I thought I'd just start over and get the EU version. Cut to a WEEK LATER, various phonecalls, sign up here, verify with $h1t&buy, more phonecalls, download the entire game before getting into character creation, and I'm only just getting online with the original game, no expansion content.
Utterly appaling. Codemasters should just get the hell out of the games industry, they are a joke.

"download the entire game before getting into character creation,"
Wait, what's the problem there? I personally prefer actually having the -whole- game before playing it. Have you played the 14-day WoW demo? The one that downloads as you play it? It's laggy and slow as hell.
