There is nothing for new players - And there never will be cause the game has nothing new to offer. Only 20 extra Renown levels in next patch. Big fat zero to get new players in.

But hey - thats really good thing of Mythic to not fool ppl into the game considering that nubs will be cannon fodder for months before they even reach half decent levels and gears. There is no fun in that...

All what War can do atm is to hold on to the dwindling playerbase that has got nothing new in terms of content for 1 and a half year now. So... Vet rewards that few hundred ppl will get sounds about right.

@Deadalon

So, you read that Producer's Letter that mentioned a new tier 4 zone, a new playable race with new classes, 20 new levels of renown, and a revamp to tier 4 balance and somehow ended up with nothing?

Your birthday parties must be pretty disappointing considering the ridiculous expectations that you apparently have. Seriously, what were you expecting that would draw new players in, aside from the things I just mentioned? New Capital Cities that would go unused? More PvE content that no-one plays?

Two years of very little - and the anniversity is the same. Same things as last year.

BTW - there is a good article on MMORPG.COM about next MMOs that might go free to play. WAR is top of the list. I surely hope thats the case cause its the only thing that can keep this game a float.

Do you ever say anything factual about this game.

-Dwindling player base? Show me the numbers. I don't have to show numbers I simply log on to my server and it is so overpopulate lately that they have halted all new account creation and transers to that server.

- A few hundred people? There were a few hundred people in Chaos Wastes just on Order Fri Sat and Sun. A few weekends ago, according to several peoples addons, there were 535 destruction vs 365 Order. Not to mention the other Warbands that seperate from the zerg to take advantage of the new AAO (against all odds) system.

This game is not about the individual. It is about mass scale RVR though.

Deadalon you can go away now. You have proven yourself to be ignorant about this game time and time again. We get it already, you hate this game stop trolling and play something that makes you happy if that's even possible.

Just an example of dwindling playerbase

Compared to LOTRO that just got a massive boost with their F2P

@Gauge
"Show me the numbers. I don't have to show numbers I simply log on to my server and it is so overpopulate lately that they have halted all new account creation and transers to that server."

That is on ONE server (Badlands I bet). There are 3 empty ones (as I play Iron Rock, and your situation is not replicated there).
To get a better idea, lets use real world tools (though not 100% accurate, can give us a glimpse of trends)

Xfire shows a current downward trend - http://www.xfire.com/games/who/Warhammer_Online_Age_of_Reckoning/

Raptr, which is kind of like Xfire, tracks gamers time. Of note, make sure to click the 7D link for the play times to see the massive down trend
http://raptr.com/game/PC/Warhammer_Online_Age_of_Reckoning?qt=game&qi=0

This is a population tracking service which uses in game tools for WAR to get reports on players. All at a loss.
http://pauser.com/warhammer/stats/all_servers.html

So, I concur that the the game is not gaining (and maybe not losing a lot), but with this type of action on Mythics part with a Non-iversary...it's going to be hard to keep people as well.

I play on both Badlands and Volkmar and yes, Badlands is slightly busier on average, but I always find ppl to RvR with on Volkmar any time of the day. I quit WAR over a year ago after playing for nearly a year and this game has not only improved a LOT, its still the most fun of all the games I've played. Oh, and xfire is notorious for being an extremely unreliable source for actual, real-time numbers. To me, its kind of like citing Wikipedia as a source for a college essay, in other words, its fail. At any rate, haters will always hate regardless of facts and the people who actually PLAY this game know how much fun it is, so really, what else matters?

535 vs 365 LOL, big whoop. When the game released there were easily 24 servers with that type number and higher, How many now? One server with one pop that had under a 1k playing. My god. Really, you think a game that they hope to have a million or more subscribers isnt a complete failure when you talk about such incredibly horrid numbers.

The game is a failure. Sad too, I did play it for several months until I realized it was a complete mess at the end game. Wasnt the only one it seems.

You know nothing if you haven't played in months. I am citing one zone on one server. there are three other tiers with many more zones not including scenarios.

@ranknvile
I know your recent disgust with the game as I follow you on twitter (tastedbigworm) and I know you'll be back. ;-)

@Deadalon and Rank

You can not show links to raptr or xfire. A very very small percentage of players use those programs. They prove nothing.

The pauser shows active players. It does not show unique players in a given day/week/month.

Is WAR perfect? No.
Is war the best RvR/PvP experience you'll find in an MMO? Yes IMHO.

WAR is doing better with every patch with out a doubt. I just don't get the hate and vitriol from people for a game they don't play.

HAPPY SECOND WAR!

Deadalon Xfire can only be used to map a trend, you cannot determine and actual play base with it, Only if a player base is going up or down, and judging by the numbers on Xfire, WAR hasn't changed in the past year as far as trending goes.

WAR is better than it's ever been. People complain about new content and new this and more more more but the fact of the matter is, Bioware is busy doing what Mythic failed to do - which is FIX WHAT IS THERE *before* you add anything else on top of it. It's delaying the development of newer content and additions but just in terms of client stability and optimization alone - it has been worth it. This game was full of horrendous hitches and bugs, and it still has some problems but all in all I'd say it has been improved three times over from what it was at launch.

I was a huge proponent for WAR. I was content lead for Warhammer Alliance, I interviewed the devs at NYCC, pushed hard to create new and exciting content for WA before official forums were made etc. I loved the concept of massive RvR, and I was truly excited.

My issue was, despite the fact my computer surpassed the minimum requirements by far, it just wouldn't play. I was getting 15 fps average, 30 if I was lucky. Friends whose computers were older and closer to the minimum specs ran better. How was I to report about the game if I could barely play it?

I certainly did enjoy WAR and would love to go back to it. But I'm still hesitant about its performance and--I'm sure you know--reports about the populace haven't been stellar. In addition, being amidst Ph.D. applications and the like don't provide fodder for play-time! If it were free-to-play, I'd have nothing to lose, but I don't know if I have the time to dedicate. I know there's the endless trial, but I don't think anyone has been able to put my heart back into the game. I suppose a part of me is fearful that if I go back, I won't find the world I fell in love with.

I'll say it, since no one else has.

Double Aegis all the way across the RvR lake. Yeah, yeah, so intense.

Is there a website that tracks Deadalon's trolling? It's really trending upwards lately. Unfortunately, that's a horrible sign.

Hehehe no doubt! I don't even read what he writes anymore, its always so obsurd. I see his name and immediately scroll past whatever whiny wall-o-text offering he's put up and I skip to the comments that actually have something to say :)
