In real life, many of us lack a distinguished title. Oh sure, sometimes we get called "Sport" when someone forgets our name, or "Stupid Lady!" when we drive over a dog, but the "Reverends" and "Doctors" and "Honorables" and "Flag Admirals" tend to escape our grasp. What do you have to do to get one of these? Pay a hundred bucks at the DMV?
Happily, MMOs are more than willing to dispense titles -- AKA "Name Bling" -- to any and all who show up and perhaps slaughter a town's worth of critters. Warhammer Online, Star Trek Online, Lord of the Rings Online and many of the new MMOs boast a title system. And why not? After all, it's one of the easiest reward systems to throw into the game from the devs' side, and players just go nuts over them.
So what title is your absolute favorite, and what did you have to do to earn it? I was always partial to WAR's "AHHHHHHH" title, which was earned by falling to your death 25 times. Because if you're that accident-prone, you might as well get compensated for it. What about you?

Right now I'm pretty partial to Vindictus's "Gnoll Kicker." 100 Gnolls, killed via foot.

Warhammer online gives you titles whenever you are *killed* by a certain class in PVP. I didn't realize where it came from at first, but I ran around on my Maurader as "the banished" for about 8 levels before I finally went dumpster diving in my tome and realized i was bragging about getting beat down by a Sigmarite Priest!

"God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals" in GuildWars *has* to be my favorite title... Though I always laugh a bit when I see someone with "My Guildhall Smells of Rich Mahogany" or "L33t Skillz" dunno why but they're just funny titles to me.

"Creep" in LotRO. Comes from kindred reputation with the Ale Association. It can only be acquired through running meaningless fluff festival games every day for several weeks, but it's super win.
"Crosser of Roads" is also a winner, but there's no way I'm doing that much chicken play. xD

Being able to call yourself a God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals is pretty badass for Guild Wars 1 :D

Actually that title that you list there, The Undying in LOTRO is one of my proudest. I'm talking about getting it solo on old characters like Loremaster etc, not the newer easier to play two. And yet as proud as I am about it, I almost never use it. For one I think it's just a little too show off / bragging to go around with it, even tho I earned it, so one of the few times I turn it on is when someone is around me thinking they are showing theirs off. Two - those titles have become linked with the worst type of selfish behavior there is in the game. Personally I just solo myself up to get them, but others don't, and they put getting that title above and beyond the value of anybody else in the party so there is a great history of people ditching you to die and such, hanging back, etc, just trying to get themselves that title and screwing over the rest of the party. So the title has become more of a badge of selfish jerks than much else - despite the number of people like me who actually earn it, the people who put that title above the lives of their party mates have ruined the reputation of holding it.

Wish WoW would add some funny ones like them too!

I’ve been running around with the title “Interceptor” in LotRO for as long as I can remember. Not only is it a perfect fit for my character class since I play a Warden, it’s also what is painted on the trunk of Mel Gibson’s yellow MFP car at the beginning of Mad Max.

In CoH, I had a couple of Norse themed heroes and loved having the "Destined for Valhalla" title on them.
In Lotro, I like one of the easier ones to get, "Watcher of Roads" and my hobbit usually has "Blind Leaper" on.

My favourite title is "Legendary" from Star Trek Online. I've only ever seen two other people in the whole game with that title.

Ridge Racer; Bruised, Used, and Contused (or whatever) for the more comical titles in LotRO, and then probably stuff like the Hero of the titles or "A Light from the Shadow"

WAR has several that you can get for doing stuff naked, those are pretty funny. My other faves in WAR are Death by Pie, from an old live event, and How About Them Apples. No idea what they mean but I chuckle when I see them.
