As a non-apple-fanboy, I really hope that this means there will also be a web portal to do this kinda thing from any pc that i can sign into with. Like if Im at work and want to be somewhere for a long time.

I have said over on the blizz forums over and over, that especially with this Real Id thing, its too bad theres not a lil sys tray type notifier program that would let us see who is on without logging into the game, or at least have some guild chat without logging in.

This is an awesome step in the right direction and I just hope that I wont need to be getting an Iphone on the same day i go pick up my copy of GW2 (yes, that's launch day!)

Worry not!

Q: I don’t have a smart phone; will we have the same functionality on the web?

A: Yes, we will provide similar functionality for web users.

I'm behind the times on phone tech, maybe my hubby won't notice all the GW2 apps on his. >.>

It's a nice feature and all, but for me there comes a time when I want to be away from the game and not someone who is addicted needing to be with a game 24/7.

i agree... why do companies have to offer crazy functionality that others will use and i won't? don't they know that if some people won't use it, then its clearly not worth giving them the option to use it

This is sick. So cool. Neato-Frito. Awesome like TV's Blossom. Mega-Cool. Sweeeeeeet. Noice. Gloriously funtastic.

Imagine -- you're sitting on break at work and log on to say hi to your guild-mates. That kind of stuff can actually make the working day much brighter! lol Well, not for me. I just log into the actual game, but you get me.

interesting.. it certainly has my attention. The games page on my iPhone could certainly use a GuildWars app to spruce up the place. ^_^

You know what would be an awesome possibility with this?

Mini-games! Guild Wars 2 could have some event-based minigames, but maybe you don't have access to your beast of a comp, just an Ipad or some weaker one, but what to participate in the events. Load up the "Extended Experience" app or site, log in however, and select the main town then minigames.

I know they haven't said anything, but if WoW can have Plants Vs. Zombie in it as a quest, I don't see why this couldn't work.

Oh ho ho Blizzard decided to announce the same thing as ArenaNet did but with a monthly charge. Anyone know if they said there would be a monthly charge to use the GW2 feature?

Just because you can doesnt mean you have to for all those that dont like it that you can chat with ppl inside the game while you are offline from the game.

Honestly technofobia amongst younger people is just weird.

I find it absolutely hilarious that GW2 and WoW announced similar functionality at almost the same time XD Yes, fee, no fee, yadda yadda but it kinda makes you wonder...when Blizz keeps talking about "MMO2" being "Some new franchise", and we have this convenient timing...were they actually pointing at Anet and their previous buddies? Is the aluminum from my tinfoil hat seeping into my brain?

I laugh when I think that I can play GW2 on my phone, but not on my mac.
