I will definately be freaking out in a good way about this news. I loved the original PSO, much more than PSU.

Mind = Blown.

The only thing I know is that this title exists and that's enough to shock my system. Didn't see that coming. I was a dreamcast fanboy (sorta) and hopefully this will turn out to be good news.

I'm a negative bastard, but I think my thoughts on this can be summed up to WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT. The icing on the cake would be a release on console. It could be the exact same game as PSO1 with better graphics and I would still go apeshit.

In Japan, Phantasy Star Universe has micro transactions and a F2P (sort of) system where lapsed subscribers can keep playing with some restrictions. I wonder if PSO2 will go fully free to play.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

I have great hopes for because, even though Universe started out pretty lackluster, they have been making constant improvements through the expansion and the handheld games. I actually still play PSU on the JP servers from time to time, because Sega Japan still runs contests and events every couple of weeks and that adds a lot of fun to it.
I'm playing Phantasy Star Portable 2 at the moment, which has the most progressive and best combat system and tweaks of this age of phantasy star games. Active defense, dodging, Single bar TP/PP, moving away from crafting and back to old school rare drop/collectible redemption system. It's almost as if they've been tuning and tweaking it from the get go to deliver something grand.

I do believe the implements are in place for a true sequel.
Happy 10th anniversary PSO.

Going to listen to the Dragon Boss music now in celebration.

PSO Dreamcast, on dial-up, was my first online "mmo" experience, and it was some of the best gaming fun I ever had. Can't wait for more info.

God I remember burning up hours on this on my Dreamcast, was one of the most amazing games in it's heyday, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge since then though so it will be very interesting to see what Sega can put together & how competitive it would be in today's crowded online gaming space.

I would rather have the Phantasy Star I fell in love with in the late 1980s/1990s. I did play PSO on the Dreamcast but it just wasn't the same epic experience for me.

This. We need a new, real Phantasy Star RPG. I looked at the online version (on the PS2, as I recall) and was dismayed at how absurd the costumes and characters looked and how different it was from the Phantasy Star that I remember.

Phantasy Star 2 forever. ;D

I'll look at this, but I won't expect the greatness that once existed - that's not to say that those of you who enjoyed the online games are wrong in any way. You're not. I just miss the old games, the great story, and the interesting characters. Nei ftw.

Never liked PSO. Had one of them on the game cube and felt it seemed a tad generic.

Still, I loved Phantasy Star IV. I wish they'd make a new single player game in the vein of that one. (The others were awful in my opinion)
