The IP is solid, although ive never read any of the books, so maybe theres enough there.

And I think the whole gaming industry needs 1 good FPSMMORPG, although i dont like that accronym.

Something newer and better than planetside, which didnt have enough RPG in it for me personally

So yes, if they could make one. My friends and I say all the time, that eventually someone is going to make something akin to a Masseffect console mmo. and it will be the greatest thing ever.

as long as it's not a pointless deathmatch fragfest.. I'd seriously consider it.

for an FPS, Halo tells a good story.. seeing that story unfold in epic battles and storyline driven missions and content would be great. But ultimately it's probably for the best that such a game never came to be, FPS games tend to be pretty 1 dimensional. (Don't even start about Portal, portal is a puzzle game in FPS clothing)

But why does it have to be halo that actually brings story to MMO's the biggest issue i have with most of the MMO's iv'e played is that there is the bare basic's linking anything together

Bring it on
Microsoft and Bungie need to get their ass moving.
Where else can they go with the Halo franchise.

Halo is one of the best multiplayer FPS game on the market next to CoD.
But it seems that Red 5 Studios with FireFall has the lead in this
genre, however the Halo name can really bring the SciFi
mmo to a different level.
I'm hoping MS will see the $$.

would i play a halo MMO?
short answer: no
long answer: noooooooooooooooooooooooo

bad jokes aside, i have to admit i'd be skeptical to try it. i'm a PC gamer, played console shooters (last one was COD MW2 on a mates xbox), even logged a few dozen hours of halo 2, but it never tickled my socks.

i'm assuming most people that will play it are the typical frat boys that don't really inspire a lot of confidence in the community. after all, you're playing an mmo with other people, not by yourself.

but in all fairness i believe that mmofpss are very very cool. the first one i played was neocron and it was quite amazing. if this turns out to be cool and the players not complete dickheads you can't grief, i'll certainly give it a try.

but until something is proven to be good, i'm gonna say that for all the non fanboys out there APB was the better choice.

Reach is an amazing game, everyone on my friend list is playing it and loving it. You can get lost in forge world for hours on end, the campaign and firefight are lots of fun with 4 people and of course the multiplayer will rule xbox live for some time to come.

I was reading an IGN article yesterday about how Bungie is already hard at work on their next project and couldn't help but immediately think of an mmo type console game. If anyone could make it work it's these guys. Of course there will always be the issue of an additional sub on top of the LIVE fee, a lot of people would have issues with that.

There already was a Halo MMO in the works, but it got cancelled. read on here for some of the details. http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=20153 . If I would play it? sure, if the game was good enough, which is something thats hard to find these days.

Halo is a deeper game than most people give it credit for. Bungie went out of their way to create an enemy (the Covenant) with highly detailed cultures and worlds. It's not always apparent in the games themselves, but the material is there in the expanded works.

But would I play a Halo MMO? I don't even know if I'll play another Halo game. It will all depend on who Microsoft has take over the franchise now that Bungie is out.

Halo MMO, yes ...
But if it is the planetside successor, with RPG elements we had in tabula rasa.
So, an Halo MMo should have the tactics dynamics of planetside, At least 3 players factions, plus a pve faction.
It should use a fps gameplay, plus some kinds of "skills use".
All kinds of vehicles must be drivable.

Well, in fact, truely a planetside in Halo universe with more classical mmo elements :p

One assumption here is that Halo as an MMO would still be FPS. That doesn't have to be the case, not a big fan of console games or FPS, I am fascinated by the world they created and do watch my kids play it. The can take that world and it's characters and use more traditional MMO mechanics but tell a very compelling story. That could widen the audience and get it on to the PC platform as an MMO. It would still need to be fast-paced combat and all but it doesn't have to remain FPS.

Halo MMO made by Bungie and microsoft?
Im tired of Stupid fragfests, but, if they sell/rent the license of the franchise to a good MMO company thats another thing.

As an FPS? Not a chance. If it's more along the lines of Tabula Rasa, then maybe.

I'll get Reach eventually, but not right now. As for if I would play an MMO, maybe. I'd at least try it.

Would it be filled with the type of people that play Halo multiplayer currenty? If so, then oh my god no, not in a million years. I play MMOs to get away from the testosterone-filled roidfest that is FPS multiplayer gaming.

Sure, there are some good folks who play Halo but in my experience the majority of them sound like they've been kicked out of the military for catching small animals, putting explosives in their mouths and letting them go.
