I'm very happy with everything SE has done here. XIV is a good game that might become great with some time. The nested mechanics are very cool.
Here's what makes people angry: nuance, subtlety and mystique. It brings out the raging simian in them.
To those people all I can say is: Ook?

List of changes for launch is beautiful.
One week to go. I'm all hyped up, as usual.

This new list of changes pretty much fixes every problem I had with the game, I used to have much more in the initial stages of the alpha but this game really has come quite a long way.

Very good news came out of the pre-release partay!

- New hairstyles that you can change in game (whee hee)
- Hardware Mouse
- Guildleve cool down reduced
- Notorious Monsters only in leves so far, if you haven't FFXI, that's a big deal, no kill stealing..

Oh, that looks nice too. O.O

(Yeah...I caught Tizmah's promising bullets before I caught Cindy's. But either way, SE seems to be a bit more responsive to community concerns than Blizz right now...which might be a good sign for FF14. :) )

@Tizmah: are you seriously expecting haters to actually read before they start to drool their hate? Preposterous!

The following is a list of some of the things we have planned for the upcoming release:
* Implementation of a hardware mouse feature
* Introduction of discounted monthly fee payment plans (3-month plan in Japan/ 3 and 6 month plans in North America and Europe)
* Raising of the level cap to 50
* Adjustment of the Armoury System UI so player abilities will not reset when changing classes.

Thrilled by the patch notes (although, due to translation, not sure if they are all live at release).

enjoy...?

The live coverage thread over on 2ch's ogame board (home for majority of FF11 players, and now somewhat FF14) was anything but. Lots of kudos went to Ridill Nakamura (so the voice actor Yuuji Nakamura is oftentimes called for actually owning said HNM drop) for saving the event somewhat, but anyone that thinks these improvements that the devs speak of will be coming at anything faster than a snail's pace is either kidding themselves or have never played much of FF11.

Hope in 6 months or so the system improves, they finally cave in and launch Auction Houses, etc. If not, oh well -- I'll probably still be busy gathering loot for Empyrean armor.

Hey Shawn or Sera...are you guys on? Remember when you guys posted a topic about commentators trolling and not being nice, and how you guys where going to clean that up a while back?

...well it appears we have a chronic case of trolling by someone whose name starts with the letter "A" and ends with "l". You guys might want to look into that. Because it's becoming really annoying. And he/she is adding nothing of value other than to obviously flame bait. Just saying...

The cut-scene looks like it has GW2 gameplay. Good cutscene overall, I guess, but that isn't what playing the game feels like to me.

While I had a few concerns about the game, I was still happy with it and couldn't wait for release. This news reassures me that SE is responsive and that the game is only going to get better. I really hope this co-op crafting works out well. EQ2 had something along the same lines and I always thought it was a great feature.

Haters Hate because what SE is doing is releasing an unfinished and broken game and they just now realize that it may not work out so well so they announce what they hope they will manage to do before launch.

"At the time of release, we hope to have made significant improvement, and plan to continue our work after release as well."
This is pathetic.

Only in the gaming industry that selling an unfinished product works because fan boy are ready buy anything thrown at them even if it's in the crappiest state. SE would have a pig poo in every box and call it special fan edition and fanboys would pre order it.

I don't know, they are using a beta like a beta is actually meant to be used, to get user feedback and fix things people had complaints about. That seems somewhat noble to me, especially in this day of betas increasingly being nothing more than promotional tools and demos.

Most MMOs develop a lot from launch time, WoW was hardly even playable at launch, and changed a great deal from beta to launch as well. I think it speaks pretty well for SE that they are already responding to user feedback before the game even launches.

In a land of moogles, far away,
A reverent hush...the fanbois pray,
At the altar of Squeenix, their prayers are heard,
Then flushed away, a forgotten turd.

From outside the temple, angry voices ring out,
"This game isn't ready!", the loudest does shout,
"It's still just a beta!", the chant rises from within,
Hammer blows strike the door, compounding their sin.

Yet software mouse driven and 300 clicks later,
The menu befuddles the tired, angry haters,
Spinning in circles, the group wheels away,
Leaving the fanbois to chant and to pray.
