I'm impressed. I wanted to do the beta but decided to wait until the game launches. I have my CE ordered and I'm waiting until it launches. What a great pic.

I can understand that completely. I was going to wait myself but decided to hop into open beta to get a jump on the mechanics. Now I feel comfortable with the game and just want it to release! 10 days!

Lovely image. Finally something to really compete with LOTRO for scenic views by the looks of it.

What an ugly screenshot. OCD for ugly things is kicking in.

It may look good but too bad it runs like crap. Atleast Lotro ran flawlessly even in open beta.

game is boring.

guildleves are like 75% of the gameplay, and they are horrible.

don't be fooled by the games visuals - it runs like crap on even high end machines.

Yeah... if gameplay wasn't limited and frustrating enough on its own, the optimisation is goddamn awful.

Looks good on screenshots, but framerate is kind of sucky on my GT470, and the rest of this games has been discussed often here....

Well, we all know XIV has impressive visuals. But it's horribly unoptimized to take advantage of todays hardware and SE uses the same excuse as Crytek did with Crysis. They'll just wait until hardware can run it fine. Only using 2 threads and no real support for SLI or Crossfire? Half assed SE, half assed.

I dont think you know what you are talking about the game is made to run on a PS3... those have been out for 3+ years now which means PCs are way past that threshhold.

If there is one thing SE knows how to do is make Gorgeous Graphics run on PCs of lower quality then most other companies.

@Stuckov, I don't think *you* know what you're talking about. Just because it can run on the PS3 does not mean they were able to optimize it for PC. The PS3's architecture is unique and is unlike any PC on the market, it uses the Cell Processor and one of the many, many complaints about it from developers is how hard it is to translate a game from the PC to the PS3, and vice versa. Developers have learned that you can have better results working on a PS3 code then translating it to PC then the other way around. Either way rkim86 is more right then you think.

....

Wrong. SE already stated numerous times XIV was being developed for both the PC and PS3 platform simultaneously. There is no porting of any kind. So saying XIV is meant to run on the PS3 shows you know nothing about the subject.

And SE knowing how to make gorgeous graphics for PC games? Are you serious? SE and PC titles? Are you flipping kidding me?! Publishing is not the same thing as developing. The list of PC developed SE titles is a very short list, and most of them were mediocre in the visuals department.

There IS porting. They aren't making two separate code systems! Thats just retarded. They have to port, otherwise they would have 2 teams working on different coding systems. Just because the graphics are good doesn't mean that it is well programed and runs optimistically. I haven't seen the graphics first hand but from what I've read is that the game needs more hardware then what is required for most games with better graphics. That is piss poor coding from my understanding. And also, you do know that the ps3 version has been delayed right? By 6 months! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_fantasy_xiv thats a hefty amount of time. Obviously you haven't done enough research to understand how multiplat. games are made. They make them for one system then port the code over to the other.

It can handle it just fine tyvm.

It still does not change the fact its horribly unoptimized. Yes, the detailing and level of visual is impressive, but so are many other PC titles. The only difference is styling.

Beta was filled with horrible optimizations for both ATI and Nvidia users. While most of it is resolved, there's still quite a bit of tweaking to be done. It's hilarious SE is passing this off as a multi platform title when the PC client runs like crap compared to other PC titles and its console counterpart is delayed for half a year.
