Lots of stuff is going on in the world of Agon, and the weekend brought us a double-shot of news updates, one good and one not so good. Aventurine's Tasos Flambouras recently checked in on the official boards to announce a delay on the upcoming expansion. The delay appears to be primarily performance-related. "The expansion is forced back a short while longer, we hope no longer than a couple of weeks, in order to get the performance right, and everything in the expansion working properly and tested thoroughly so there's no repeat of the last setback with the terrain feature," he wrote. Aventurine has also been having trouble with its network service provider, and the post provides a few details along those lines as well.
Now for the good news: treasure hunting is coming to Darkfall, courtesy of the aforementioned expansion. Players will be able to acquire map-reading skills from NPCs, make their own shovels to unearth various objects, and use treasure map hints to determine appropriate dig locations. "We are already planning on expanding this system, which means you can expect additional treasure hunt features being added on top of the one we talked about today," writes Aventurine's Laenih on the Darkfall forums.

It's little things like this that make MMOs so much more fun.
I just hope there's nice loot to be had.

Have they fixed ship combat yet lol? Like when a swimming party can board a massive ship and avoid the whole ship to ship combat so vaunted in the last expansion? DF is still a joke in the MMO world unfortunatley.

They fixed the cannon bug. Its no longer possible to take control of a cannon from the water and get instant ported onto the deck.
You can still climb the netting to get onboard but its designed to work like that, just have someone at the top of the netting doing knockbacks

i downloaded the client like a month ago... i jumped around at the barren starting place trying to figure out that horrible horrible ui. the graphics appalled me so much, i quit after 10 minutes of virtually not knowing what to do or where to go, deleting the entire 8gb worth of download again, swearing never to touch this piece of crap work again. ever.

10 minutes, huh? wow...that's a lot of time to see if an MMO is for you. I actually hate, hate, Darkfull BUT I gave it my time. I played it a few hours, a day, for a couple weeks just because it is an MMO. It's just not for me; it's not bad, I do hate it yes, but......10 minutes? troll...you might actually like it if you gave it the time of day.

so it took you a month to figure out, that you don't like the game... it took me only 10 minutes worth of MY TIME. i've had my share of giving games "a chance". no way in hell i will waste one more minute than absolutely necessary. time is the most precious thing to be had in live.

Starter quest, starter sword kill, goblins.
NT is it really that hard?
If you are really having trouble i suggest a reading class or something.

I actually don't mind DF. I hate EVE, sure, but DF...well, it knows what it is, and it doesn't make any pretences about it, and neither do the players.
The thing that bugs me though, is that the challenge of DF is so artificial. I could clear a camp of Goblins no problem at the start...the problem came that they respawned literally a second later. That wasn't challenging, what was stupid respawn timers. if I can't loot or rest because a Goblin is going to respawn just after I killed it, I'm not going to be playing for long.

Wow NT, nice troll post. If you couldn't figure out the UI how did you get to this website? This your first time in a video game or something?

Awesome feature, I love exploration in Darkfall. one of the few MMO's I can actually just wander around in and have fun, not knowing whats coming up ahead, sneaking past some vet's farming mobs (even though I'm a vet).
Good stuff.
Good stuff.

DF is the hands down best MMO on the market, even with all it's flaws. It has ruined me for other MMO's. Nothing comes close at the moment. If you want challenge, consequence for failure, engaging combat, and the largest scale FPS PvP around, play DF. It only gets better every patch.

Darkfall can be the best game ever or not so fun just depends if you are able to make it fun or not. If you don't have fun killing mobs, then don't. I had the best time in Darkfall joining a good guild and feeling like I was part of something bigger. Even days when the guild itself was quiet, you could be defending your city / hamlet, go out with a few friends and kill people farming, go farming, go gathering, go crafting, and all of it being meaningful and productive to the cause... Really cool game and really cool things came out of it and were played out within the game. Lots of politics.
I think 10 minutes of looking at the clunky ai and figuring out the game without motivationally being into the game already is incredibly daunting. The game has its flaws. But it is a niche game for hardcore pvpers, and it delivers.
