oh and PVP! will they have a FFA PvP server? i loved that about age of conan. i loved the fact that you had to watch your back at all times, even from groupmembers because they could just drop group and attack you...it added a great element to the game.

Its all looks good, EXCEPT for the space combat.

I'm sorry I think I speak for most people when I say we would have preferred a space sim ala X-WING. or barring that a more simplied space sim like Battlefront.

And by the way Blaine, in the SW expanded universe there are Mining of Asteroids. It would have been much more interesting to borrowed a little from EVE vast space economic system and mixed it up with the crafting system of SW Galaxies which is arguably the best crafting system of any MMO.

I don't wish to criticize, but you guys took the lazy way out. Perhaps you didnt have the budget to do anything more elaborate but the truth is Nobody except 8 year olds wants to play a rail-shooter.

As its probably too late to change anything now, I would strongly urge you consider a more in depth space-exploration system (as Galaxies did) as part of an update or future add-on.

I can easily handle criticism about the game, but the constant harping from the same set of people goes well beyond the pale and is in effect, an all out war or vendetta for these people and they are completely ruining not only topics on this site, but trolling and making things miserable on Bioware's boards. You people need to get a life and take your petty hatreds elsewhere.

P.S. You can't avoid these incessant attacks when they troll every frakking TOR topic that pops up on the web and I am not about to let them troll me out of the topics I very much want to participate in.

I can copletely understand why he took a jab at the haters of this game. In the 12 years that I have been playing and following the MMO genre, I have never seen this level of hatred and pure vitriol to any upcoming release of a game. Yes, there have always been haters trolling boards for every game that get's released, but not nearly to the level that I see on every single TOR topic on every website I visit.

The haters are without a doubt, outnumbered by the fans, but the incessant hating is starting to affect everyone, even the developers. You're welcome to comment as you like, but once you've said your piece, move on. Take responsibility for your freedom of speech and stop abusing that privelege.

So if I don't agree with the space system but love the ground game which is my case then I become the hater?

It certainly does if you continue to harp about it in every topic that comes up and especially if you do it in a rude / condescending manner that is targeted at inflaming the issue with those who like the current design.

Again read the article the guy said himself they make changes based off community feedback. And my feedback is stop making this game WoW in Starwars clothing. And space combat on rails sucks.

And from the statement you made you think criticism is directed at people who like the game? That shows youre too emotionally attached to this game. I bet no one has ever once said "Hey Vrazule, TOR is going to suck! Ya you heard me its going to suck!" Taking criticism of a game personally is just weird.

Have I been harping about it in every topic? Sheesh I need to let it go then! Either way I am really looking forward to the game. Have a good sunday bro. ;)

I'm really getting tired of this strawman fallacy that people who merely want the freedom to stop and/or turn around (aka: not to be on rails) are really asking for something akin to Eve Online. Seriously, why the hell is the Lead Writer (of all people) assuming the role of spokesperson for game mechanics?

I'm not looking to "dick around" and mine space rocks, but rather to DOGFIGHT… you know, just like they did in the movies... just like I was able to on a Nintendo Gamecube nearly TEN YEARS AGO while playing Rogue Squadron.

I don't want to watch from the sidelines while my ship executes predetermined Immelmanns and loop-de-loops as scripted by some Bioware code-monkey in Austin, Texas—I want to pilot the ship myself. Why is that so freaking hard to understand?

Maybe I'm setting the bar too high for a company that wants to bring us Jedi Wizards.

Here's the thing: What's to stop them from making PVP Space Combat instances later with the same game engine? If nothing else they could get the gameplay to resemble Battlefront without the boarding of ships.

The space combat in this wasn't going to be TIE fighter (more accurately X-wing Alliance), for the amount of time you were going to be in Space relative to the ground. It would be overkill for a KoTOR game.

I think people need to drink a tall glass of "Chill the freak out", but this is the internet.

I suspect developers of MMO's couldn't care less about critisism given the fact that each year, a new generation of gamers get to know this or that MMO. Probably millions on millions of people.

So I imagine, that any MMO developer can basicly disregard any and all of todays gamers.

It would have been the perfect time to press on space combat since the developer basically told a sizable group of potential customers to frag off. That was the news story, not the boring stenography that passed as an interview. I realize you may be worried about losing access, but a little journalistic integrity would go a long way.

Also, Daniel needs to rewatch those movies... Luke and Anikin took their ships off autopilot.

Let's apply some of that logic from the official presentation:

Hey, remember that time when Han and Chewie went to the Auction House on Coruscant? Or when they harvested those mats and made stuff to sell? Yeah, I couldn't find that either.

So why does this argument not apply to Auction Houses and crafting in the game, but it does apply to rationalizing putting in StarFox space combat?

I respect making hard design choices but not when they're explanation is inconsistent.

BW needs to fix three things in my mind to make this game the best one on the market.

1. They absolutely must expand on the space side of the game. They obviously need to ditch the rails shooter because it is simply not fun. It really isn't. Anyone who played the Lego star wars for laughs knows that the most amazing change they made between the first one and the second one was the removal of the rails in the space sequences. If they really feel the drive to be exceptional they could possibly make transit between planets more hands on then it was in kotor, I personally know that that was a very distant part of the game just clicking a button and watching cutscenes of my ship flying, not blaming BW for that in kotor as it was obviously not designed to be like that, however JUST REMOVE THE RAILS! I hate to bash like this but honestly they might as well not include it. Props to bioware for all the amazing things in this game but the rails is such a turnoff I can't even describe.

2. Please please please please rename the Jedi wizard. I am sure that you can whip out your thesaurus and go find a name that has more prominence in lore and also sounds more impressive and less like it came out of a 8 year olds nintendo game.

3) Go rename the entire sigh inquisitor class. No more inquisitor no more sorcerer, although sorceror is not as bad as wizard as it does have more lore ties. I personally find the assassin and sorcerer playtypes a little distant from eachother to be subspecs of the same class but, it's not a gamebreaker, nor is the wizard thing.

In closing, those are the only three things I found to be really bad out of the hundreds and hundreds of features that have been announced so major props. The terrain and planets look awesome, the story and VO is indescribably awesome so keep up the good work in that regard.

Also for all the hatred about how this is a wow reskin, I agree to some degree but do not hate about the vo, you really need to treat this as a kotor multiplayer and it is outstanding in that role. If you are not into story based play and spending the time to immerse yourself in the story of the world and characters then this is not the game for you. If you want to just massacre things, level and get loot then there are plenty of other mmos. In regards to the lack of other defining features other than the story, why is that a problem? He is saying it does everything the other mmos do plus story. Am i missing things or is everything other mmos do plus something else more than other mmos? x + 1 > x, basic math no?. Seriously, that makes no sense. the vo is huge as well as defining.

Give him a break about his snarky comments, it was dumb as well as uncalled for but hate wears off and I am truly shocked by the level of rage displayed on the TOR forums from the brief readings I have done.

What do you all think? Apologies for any spelling errors, I composed this from my iPad.
