I'm a former player who hasn't played in years, but Turbine sent me an email to invite me back to the game and even bump my account to premium status (not entirely sure what that means tho).

I just did this, and while I have a level 9 guy I made yesterday when logged in using an old trial account, I found out just now that it made me create a new account to apply the VIP status, which kinda sucks... now I have to start over. D:

But at least I get cool stuff... if I am understanding this correctly, I now own Mines of Moiria?

Good question. 30 days VIP is good, but 1000 points (about $~12.50 considering about 80 pts/$1) for $5 is a nice deal.

So yeah, possible to add to an account already?

If you've been a paid subscriber, or paid for items in the past, or any other time, your account automatically gets bumped up. Now if you've downloaded the 10 free trial demo in the past, your account information from that automatically gets transferred over to F2P as well so you don't need to fill those forms out again.

At least Turbine can still deliver screenshots consistently. (From my personal experience, that seems to be the only thing that's working right this past week.)

I shudder to think what will happen when that employee's Print Screen key wears out some day.

Justin, have you investigated why Turbine has closed 2/3 of its new scaleable Great Barrows instance? It happens to be the only level-scaled instance available to Free accounts. (Technically, they only closed 1/3, but the final third is gated by the portion that is closed.)

I just logged into the MTS version of LOTR. I really do not see what alot of "you people" are seeing as a free to play game, it is not even close to being F2P.

As a lifetime subber those of you that try to get the content i have access to will never, i repeat, never see it unless you pay, thats the bottom line and thats what makes saying this title is F2P rubbish. Be a sheep or be an individual.

The direct 11 graphics they touted are non existant. If they feel a couple shadowed ripples on the water qualify as directx11 graphics those devs need new brains. Right now its the same game, same stripped lore, same empty ettenmoors and same small group of folks in the ettenmoors, boring as hell.

Consolidate the servers to one, maybe two, lets get the populations in the hundreds, even a couple thousand, not the ones of tens that run around there now. (some servers)

Same groups of folks trading off keeps back and forth and nothing else. No real battles.

I'm having trouble figuring out exactly what your point is -- could be the tortured syntax, could be because you are labouring under a delusion. Besides the ludicrous association of "subscription" with "individuality" (?!?), you seem to be suggesting that people who are playing F2P are somehow crazy enough to think what they are getting is equal to the game subscribers are getting. I don't think you're giving people enough credit. I think gamers are savvy enough to understand how the system works. It's hardly complicated. Your anger seems misplaced.

@Graill

Just because a game doesn't use Tesselation doesn't mean it doesn't have DirectX 11 - thanks, though.

And pretty sure they're in it to make money. Being able to play the entirety of the game up to level 50 is pretty good, and having access to all classes/races (with two exceptions) for FREE and allowing the ability to purchase the classes is a huge step up from EQ2X.

How about instead of complaining about a company/dev team wanting to make their game more accessible while making some money to support their families, you go away?

Idiot.

Just wanted to point out that several forums are reporting that the VIP portion of the D2D deal does not work with existing accounts, while the 1,000 points will work. I haven't tried it myself, but I've read several posts from users who have purchased the D2D starter pack and are basically giving away the VIP access code because it won't work with their existing account...but $5 for 1,000 points seems pretty nice!

For newcomers or anyone who doesn't have Mines of Moria yet, the MoM retail box at less than $10 is an even better value, since Moria costs 2495 Turbine Points in the LotRO Store. Plus you can hold back on entering the product key until you've exhausted all the free content, thus making optimal use of the included 30 days of VIP time.

Better yet, do both: Sign up now with the VIP starter pack, buy Mines of Moria retail, and input the Moria key when you need it. That's two months of VIP time, 1000 Turbine Points, and the Moria expansion, all for less than $15! Woot!

I could be wrong, but I think that $15 might actually get you 2000 Turbine points...
1) 1000 point code
2) 500 points from your 30 days as a VIP (from starter pack)
3) 500 points from your 30 days as a VIP (from whenever you activate the Moria box)

Again...I haven't tried this myself, but I think that my math is good.

I kinda wish I didn't have an account now!!
