None of that matters until you apply the super awesome hardware mouse fix someone was able to uncover and activate. Follow the instructions and use at your own risk, but it works amazing and makes this game a heckuva lot easier to enjoy.

I didn't use a mouse at all to play ffxi, but maybe in the years since I've become too used to having easy controlling smooth mouse. I admit I was getting frustrated at the controls in this game so far, but my main complaints are due to server lag (60 seconds for npcs and players to appear in an area), and response time of menus and actions. Also, the fact that there is no information available in game as to wtf to do, but this I can live with because figuring it out on your own makes ff14 stand apart from the common hand-holding in 90% of mmos today.

The game is absolutely beautiful, and I think it will be awesome once the issues with the controls and lag cease.

Its very different, certainly not for everyone, and I'm counting on the enjoyment level increasing as we move along and get acclimated to the game.

I've only managed to complete two leves in the past two days because I crash every 15 minutes. Amazingly, still having fun though. 360 pad works great.
