I think it's just silly of anyone comparing SWTOR to WoW, since no one has actually played it yet. How do they know it's WoW?

...also Oce, it may have futuristic setting, but need I remind you, "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." :)

Combat looks mostly like it did in the old KOTOR games. Which is fine by me.

"He clearly doesn't like how Bioware is ruining all their their games by dumbing them down for the stupid people who can only play FPS's and WoW just for them to make a little more money."

How on earth is a single-player RPG ever going to be less "dumbed-down" than a first-person-shooter or an online RPG? I love Baldur's Gate II like a perfect child, but to say that it's a more challenging game than World of Warcraft is absurd.

There's tons of easy stuff in WoW; but there are also things in WoW that are harder than almost anything in any other game. Do the people who complain that the game is too easy have top-rated Arena teams and defeat raid bosses on the hardest of hard modes?

If they do, then they're a tiny, tiny fraction of the people who actually play WoW. And they're still doing things that are too difficult for most players.

In reality, what's happened is that people who don't like WoW for some reason or accessibility in games in general (largely people who react reflexively to bandwagons) are piling on this latest meme. And they'll launch it at SWTOR when it is even less like what they want.

I'd really be happier to see some (or *any*) details on the PvP aspects of the game rather than more explanation about the story.

Bioware can do great stories, we get it. We know that. The game is less the half a year from their proposed released and there hasn't been anything about PvP in the game. I'm more interested in hearing how Bioware intends to do the game mechanics that they've never previously attempted.

I got to play 15 minutes of the Trooper at PAX and I had a great time with it, for what it's worth. Combat was responsive and the dialogue and quest stuff was immersive and interesting. Kind of neat- the female Zabrak Trooper is voiced by Commander Shepard's VA. It startled me a little at first but I like it. :) Not sure if it's the same VA for all female troopers or just that race though.

Jeez!

I'm a fan of Star Wars, and I'm definitely looking forward to this game.

That being said..what the heck is with the silly costumes pieces the players are wearing? I expect to see this kind of over the top design in WoW, not in this game. Lose the foot long shoulder spikes and feathered caps please...that kind of stuff just looks childish and stupid.

I'm trying really hard to remember exactly how they took the mmo out of Mass Effect II. I'm really tired of hearing the complaint, because it's simply not true. First of all, I love rpgs way more than fps but at no point did I start screaming "They made it more fps for ppl too stupid to play rpgs." Well not to be picky, but it's a third person shooter rpg, not an fps.

So they took the weapon customization out. You still get to pick from multiple types of assault riffles. You still get to play with armor pieces to suit your style. You still get to decide what skills you upgrade on which character. You still get to make major choices about what to do in your story. They streamlined stuf so that you are less likely to have to hit pause to do what you want. And I think I still did just as much anyway.

Maybe someone can point this out to me so I can join the Hate Bioware bandagon. But it's not going to happen by playing two awesome game from them in a row. It's not going to happen from me seeing an awesome Dragon Age II trailer (sorry, don't get the God of War reference either), and it's not going to happen from me seeing HK-47 in a trailer for 2 seconds.

The video looks great but I hate BioWares decision not to allow a ship to turn around in space.

Lol, I don't know why people are still interested in this at all after they showed that first combat footage. I'm not trying to be mean, but even WoW has more fluid animations and more exciting looking combat than that. Guild Wars 1, a game that came out in 2005, looks much more interesting in combat. Guild Wars 2 makes GW1 look like crap. Does this say something about my opinion for ToR's combat? You decide.

I agree wholeheartedly, even moreso after seeing them gleefully describe all the intense realistic visceral action combat at the PAX presentation while all that was on screen was stiff canned animations.

It's Star Wars, and it's Bioware. That's all people apparently need to know about the game before instantly exclaiming that it's the greatest game in existence while completely ignoring solid proof that it, in fact, isn't.

Guild Wars 2, Vindictus, TERA, Warhammer 40k and countless others from now on I am sure...these are all games that are embracing action oriented combat. TOR should have embraced it as well if they wanted to have a long lasting game, and not just copied what was popular at the time. They are one of the few companies who have the money to take risks, innovate and truly create something great, but all they seemed to do was copy WoW and add some voice acting and lightsabers. That might be enough for some people, but it's not enough for me.

HK-47 is back?! They KEEP ADDING more reasons to reassure me that I definitely will not regret my purchase of this game! I should KNOW better than not to trust Bioware! Since the days of Baldur's Gate they have never failed to impress! Spring 2011 hurry up and get here already!

So I watched the entire 53 minute PAX presentation.

They said there would be realistic visceral action combat.

There wasn't.

That is my biggest beef with this game. Seriously, an enemy is being shot in the chest 20 time with a blaster at close range. How is that realistic? How is it visceral action if nobody moves when they're being shot at? They are trying to market the game that it is clearly not. And since combat is a huge part of any MMO, it scares me to think what else they are lying to our faces about.

The combat wouldn't bother me so much if they didn't try and claim that it was something that it wasn't. It's the exact same autotarget 12345 stuff we've been putting up with for decades, yet they are trying to pass it off as some amazing real time action packed bloody realistic combat when it's just stiff canned animations and enemies standing in one place exchanging shots with you. If you are going to make a game with boring combat, call it what it is, don't try to lie to us one second then show us the exact opposite the next.

And as for the skills themselves, there seems to be so few. I mean, I know not everything is finalized and they haven't released all the skill information yet, but from the PAX event they only showed like 6 abilities on the skill bar, and for a healer that was frightening. She had ONE healing spell that she just kept spamming over and over, yet the whole time they were talking they were making it seem like some revolutionary system, like they invented the holy trinity and it's never been seen before. They didn't let the fans who were playing play as the healer because they wouldn't know how to play a healer in their game because it was SOOO different from every other MMO out there, like it was so hard to keep track of the ONE healing spell they had to spam over and over. Christ. I don't believe anything they say in regards to this project. I don't see how anyone is buying into this crap. Do you not have eyes? Can you not see what is actually going on in this game or do you only hear what the developers are saying about it?
