I have been looking really hard for a reason to reinstall, resubscribe, and re-level a new character.

I think this might be it.

other than the fact that the missions release weekly, how is this different from the typical STO missions? No offense, but plot and action wise this sounds a lot like some of the newbie missions that I did in the beta.

Really all I see is the same-same missions with access withheld to hopefully get you to keep coming back every week?

I agree... I resubbed again myself, simply for all the updates I saw during the Welcome Back weekend and the new weekly episodes. If they keep up "weekly", I'll be surprised, but if they are, it'll rock and I'll be around for a long time. The whole reason I love Star Trek is the story wrapped up in hour-long packets. This definitely satisfies that.

You gave a link to show that this story only had three episodes, but in the link you gave, it shows 5. Reading FTW!

Tumorseal: No reading failure on the part of the author there. When the feature episode guide was first published on the STO website, it only listed the first three episodes. The inclusion of the last two episodes in this series only occurred within the last couple days. The author likely wrote at least that part of the article prior to the update.

For anyone who isn't already aware, the new Orellius Sector Block also includes a 3-part daily Aid the Deferi mission, with one of those parts containing a daily side mission as well. VAs do not currently earn Emblems, but 3 Emblems per daily is coming soon (it's on the test server right now).

I love the new planet.
It is one of the few places, after Drozana, where the Federation and the Empire can go without killing each other. Great for RP and alot nicer than Risa-the new Party Central.

I ordered a copy of STO the other day --- it was pretty inexpensive :) --- and should be receiving it soon. This episode content structure sounds very promising; I look forward to try it out.

Thanks for the update.

What's cool is that unlike the rest of the STO content they are not level/rank specific. Players from rank 10 and higher can do these episode missions, so Lt Commanders to Rear Admirals can experience the new content.

The new Episodes can also be done by Klingons as well so this only adds to their limited PVE mission selection.

Once the Klingon content is finished I know I am coming back.

Cold Call was brilliant! The ground setting had a nice atmosphere to it and the space combat was challenging. I don't know if they can keep this up on a weekly basis, and if they don't thats fine with me because I would rather have something great like this than on time. This really showed what Cryptic can do IMO. If they could turn out content like this on a frequent basis, they would be talked about with the best.

STO has some ways to go but it is getting there. I'm having a lot of fun in it and it only continues to get better. It's n ice to see a new direction since DStahl has been EP

I loved this episode and look forward to the next. The secret puzzle was a huge surprise and while completing it doesn't give you any special rewards it totally reminded me of the great puzzles in DDO. I hope they add more of these to all the weekly episodes. (looks like they just removed this puzzle from the episode, not sure why, my guess is because the next episode will expand on it)

I recently went back to the game after not playing for months and i must say its a different experience that i am really finding engaging. The secret is to find a fleet (guild)! Seriously any fleet with a large active player base will do. It totally changes the game because now suddenly there are reasons to group for fun and to get help and all the missions are like mini dungeons from other games like wow. With the new squad system there is no limitation on who can join your group (based on levels) because it will level match you to the group leader.

The next episode is due in a day or two and i cant wait. Also there are new dailies in the new system i think 3 or 4 and if they keep adding dailies with each episode arc then there will be a TON of content to do every day even at max level.

The only feature they need to add to make STO perfect is the ability to make Fleet actions just that, fleet (aka guild) actions, meaning when you fly into a fleet action have it ask you if you want to join your own fleets instance or a public instance. My fleet would run these all the time if we could lock out people who don't know what they are doing and make the FA impossible to complete. (thinking of CE one)

A nice step in the right direction for the game to be sure. There are some small issues with things bug wise but overall it is very solid content. Additionally, there are also sub missions and a secret puzzle to find and solve as well as several new accolades to earn.

This side-by-side comparison thing is a fantastic idea. Please do it! I read about what big disappointments so many new MMOs are, but I rarely hear how they look a year down the line or whatever. All you get is dribs and drabs of info as times goes by, and it's sometimes hard to put all that together in a Now and Then comparison.

So consider this another vote for that new feature.

hm, interesting. will fire up STO again, since I have a lifetime sub.

with regards to some comments on side-by-side comparison and how some game evolved - not sure if it makes a difference if the game-play as such is the same and if said is the thing that was the reason not to continue playing. it's a different thing though if bugs or content was the reason to quit (and them being fixed/added finally).
