I can't wait until more MMORPG games require you to pay for small updates.

CoH has numerous packs of (mostly) cosmetic content, nothing new here. The only sad bit is it being emote-only and still cost that much.

The thought of having my MM and all his demons doing some of those dances is entertaining, though.

$7.99 or not...these Packs should be included in their subscription instead. Or least allow me to get these ingame threw Veteran awards or completing certain difficult missions/Task Forces. None of this double dipping crap, when I'm already paying for the game. This is the differrence from being treated like a real valued customer than a skanky commodity with their current P2P with MT's model.

Would you rather get the emotes free and pay for Issue updates? NCSoft has been doing the MT thing for a couple of years now and they're not the only company to stack on MTs with monthly subscriptions. It's just a matter of 'worth' this emote pack is to a player, no one is forcing them to buy it.

It's a straw man argument I've heard for Champions Online C-store and WoW's Sparkle Ponies MT's. Yet, I somehow remain unconvinced about it. /shrug

The release date is Sept. 14. You have 2 weeks to consider this purchase, impulse shoppers.

To me, a pack of emotes is not worth $8. So I won't buy it. That's all there is to it, no need to go into a frothing nerd rage about double dipping subs / MTs.

On a related note the other super boosters were worth it, so I did buy some of them.

"Would you rather get the emotes free and pay for Issue updates?"

Considering how both the frequency of issues and the the amount they contain has gone way down since these boosters were introduced, and gone down again since Going Rogue took center stage, players are already paying for content coming and going that used to be a free part of issues.

They just asked players to shell out for an expansion, without which the amount of updates for this year would be rather small. Issue 18 contained very little on it's own. Issue 17, while having the graphics update, had very little new to do. I19 will continue to focus on Going Rogue content with the Incarnate system.

All things considered, squeezing players for more money at this point in time, and in this economy where I'm finding it harder and harder to justify even paying a monthly sub for shrinking support and content while being asked to shell out microtransactions too, seems like a really stupid idea.

I wish that costume parts had come with this - emotes are nice, but I like my costume bits! Anyhow - NCSoft/Paragon Studios still offer some of the best prices on their booster packs and player services (renames, transfers).

I'd like to see them do a booster pack (or add in to the game outright) stuff that would help facilitate player-run events (costume contests, speed runs, tournaments, etc), on the organizer side. Awardable trophies, laurels, etc.

I've bought almost every costume/origin booster pack so far and even the Mac pack (the only thing I haven't bought is the wedding pack, as the costume parts were of zero interest to me) - and I just got my 48 month subscribers veteran badge.

And this emote pack really annoys the heck out of me. It could have 200 emotes in it and it would still seem like a colossal rip-off to me. This is the first time I've felt that NCSoft are really trying to milk us for cash. All the other boosters/packs seemed like pretty good value by comparison.

I'm guess the animation team at Paragon Studios had some slack time, while other departments were busy working on Going Rogue or forthcoming issues, so they decided to do this - all I'd say to that is why couldn't they have spent the time coming up with alternative combat animations instead, like they did for Martial Arts and a few other melee powersets? If this pack had some non-ridiculous alternative animations for Dual Pistols, and some new power animations for 4-5 other powersets, then yeah I'd be willing to pay $7.99 or whatever for it (it's probably going to cost £6.99 here).

But emotes? Sure, the odd new emote here and there is fun - it has novelty value for the 1-2 times I'd use it while waiting for a team to form, or for my mate to come back from AFK. Sure, if an animator had a little time to kill at the end of their day, chuck a new emote our way. But ploughing so much Dev time into making a booster pack full of emotes just irks me when the Devs say they don't have time to create stuff that would make far more players happy (like the aforesaid alternative combat animations).

I guess it's just not aimed at me. One for the role-players only, I guess. I'll just have to pretend it doesn't exist. Still irked though.

Btw the present-opening emote from the vid isn't new - they've just recycled the animation from opening the Christmas presents you get during the winter holiday event. I guess they felt the need to bulk out the pack. The only problem is that before they started doing these boosters they'd have chucked something like that at us for free as a reward during a holiday event.

Don't get me wrong, some of the costume pieces in the boosters have been really high quality - better than anything we've seen before - but the quality and especially the quantity of the free costume piece updates in issues have really plummeted since they started doing the boosters.

But if it's keeping the game going then I guess I'll deal with it - just seems a bit cynical to release this emote pack now when GR seems to have been such a massive success (I certainly haven't seen the EU servers so busy since CoV 4 years ago).

Even if you are a role-player, please do not send the message that players accept sub-par content for a given price. This is the type of content they could have included in GR when we were paying $29 pre-purchase or $39.99 for boxed collector's edition. Or it is the type of content to include with the subscription price.

If you were someone that made fun of the Cryptic model in CO and buy this pack, I label you a tool.

Rather have a STORE selling CoH/CoV merchandise!! Hells they could even not spend any money and use Cafe Press for my Positron T-Shirt, my CoH messenger bag, if they really need more money from the players!!!
