While video games have long been used as an escape from life, there are few instances where that sentiment is more tragic than a recent crime in Seattle.
On August 17th, 18-year-old Tyler Savage led police to the body of a developmentally disabled teenage girl, whom Savage admitted to killing then raping. After hiding the body, Savage went to a neighbor's house and logged into Dungeons & Dragons Online. Savage wanted to be a video game tester, and told the police he spent many hours gaming every day. He claimed that playing DDO helped him to forget his crime, a crime to which he has since pleaded "not guilty." Detectives are trying to figure out if he was trying to enact a game fantasy in real life, although Savage's defense attorney claims that this is "pure speculation."
Savage's victim was a participant in the Special Olympics and had known him for two years. If convicted, Savage could receive the death penalty.

The ignorant detectives are "trying to figure out" if he was acting out a "game fantasy" from DDO? Wha wha WHAT?! I don't know...but last I check there was no raping in DDO at ALL, and certainly no killing of disabled children and then raping them. Hello, McFly?! Why is it that video games keep taking the blame for some of the idiots that just HAPPEN to play them? This guy was obviously screwed up before he ever started playing video games. Millions upon millions of people play video games and never do so much as steal a candy bar. Again....WTF?

its funny how some people say that the 2 most powerful and richest countries in the world (USA, and china in case you didn't know) are still stuck in the middle ages because they still execute people.
western society should stop their sympathy for the murderer and instead should focus their sympathy to the victim (or his/her family). im not for or against the death penalty but the family's opinion should come into play here. in the end it was their daughter/sister/mother that was killed and it should be up to them to state whether they want the maximum punishment for the murderer to be execution or life(once proven guilty in a court of law of course).
