Some people ask "what if XXXX P2P MMO was 'F2P'?"

I'll ask the opposite - what if Allods was P2P? Wouldn't people play a lot more happily if they didn't have to bother checking the hundreds of different functional items being shoved down their throats by penalizing them?

Did I want this game to succeed when it came out? Hell yes. Do I even consider logging into the game today? Hell no. Besides all the other gripes players have, the game-wide 200% damage nerf in completely inexcusable . The is ABSOLUTELY no game improvements rendered by this change, and the dev's haven't even tried explaining it away. Nerf players so they NEED to buy incense to level? Poor choice, and Astrum Nival certainly is hurting from it. It's possible they aren't hurting enough though, not yet at least. If they were, you'd assume that they would render actual changes to the MoneyGrub® mechanics in place.

I don't think it'll be long before Astum Nival goes the way of RTW, if they keep this up.

The problem with this game was from the get go the fact it made the mistake of screwing over it's players with gimping the core gameplay unless you pump money in like a heroin addict with a severe problem to make the core gameplay as it actually should be.

Cash shops should add value to the game not "un-gimp" the game to make it playable, but the greed isn't GPotato's alone, the Russian owners RUMail are well-known as greedy bastards & carry the blame for the bulk of the changes that screwed the gameplay up, such as the death penalty. Though that doesn't excuse the insane inflation that GPotato applied to the shop & only partially addressed.

This style of business should be re-branded "rope 'em in & rape 'em" because it is exactly as distasteful as that moniker sounds.

Before the insanity started, I had every intention of buying bags, mounts, etc. for multiple characters. Now I haven't spent a penny because of the goofy changes since closed beta. I still can't bring myself to uninstall but I can't be bothered to update the game.

To anyone considering supporting the US version of ALLODS via Gala-net / Gpotato please take the time to consider the following information. I know its a long post but after reading that "Gpotato has listened to their customers" this is very much needed.

first let me give you my background so you can understand I'm not some low level noob in Allods. So you don't mis understand me, I was very much a Fanboy and supporter of Allods pre gipat patch. I did everything in my power to divert any conversation of negativety towards Allods, Gpotato, Gala-net what so ever. I tried telling everyone that a US based company would not allow the same mistakes to happen to their customer base as the Russian customer base.

Ran a decent sized guild of 150 with a secondary guild of 75. we had another guild join us of another 150 with a mix of approximately 200 total active players and approximately 50 seriously active level 40's pre patch... I need to emphasize PRE PATCH. the majority of the end game players accounted for purchased gpots PRE PATCH to help support the game. My guild helped out at and during GM events with GM_Piopico and even GM_CHOMP aka darren allarde, hosting raids with GM_CHOMP league vs Empire and doing item giveaway bbq's.

On an average day approximately 6 groups were doing astral for around 10-16 hours and another 3-5 groups doing heroics, Daily, PRE PATCH.

Back in March or so when they FIRST opened the cash shop you could tell their intentions by the prices they initially put up, the customers protested at the amateur business dealings and so they dropped the prices. Around This Time the GM's were known for saying quotes such as "Completely FREE to play" "End game needed items will be available in game via difficult quests to keep with the completely FREE to play" -- BAIT

Gpotato decided to NOT release total or specific patch notes on Gipat. They also gave every excuse in the book to not release cash shop prices until the day before the patch, and everyone knows why...
After patch they started changing their slogan, once everyone noticed they had removed EVERY single quest which gave any form of cash shop items free and made even items we were told from the very beginning were supposed to be available in game via quests completely CASH SHOP ONLY!
Now instead of saying items that are Needed will be available in game via quests they started removing forum posts that quoted anything similar and giving out warnings telling the posters "they made it up" essentially calling the customers LIARS! Now they say "Items are available in game via the Auction House" no longer bait now its a Switch.

Affectively performing a nice "Bait and Switch" which might not be illegal in the country the game was developed but is definately Illegal in the USA..

the new update since Gipat:
1. Astral being a bit easier, mobs do less damage, have less aggro, and have less HP, as well as Allods being easier to find. (( Okay this is fine and dandy but there is one MAJOR thing left out, You still fall through allods randomly and have glitch deaths while jumping in the astral causing you to be FORCED to use your Charms or end up having the risk of getting your hard earned items Cursed. -- FAIL

2. Incense quest available giving a buff similar to incense. (( Idea is great for customers because customers are forced to use incense or deal with a HUGE damage Debuff. this quest is ONLY available to levels 1-34. High level end game players are still forced to use cash shop for incense and now are being treated like IDIOTS by Gpotato... -- FAIL

3. EXP scroll quest, (( Finally something EVERYONE can partake in, Its currently not bound and can be sold in the AH. -- WIN (( but since every thing else is a fail why would this even matter??

we tried very hard to test out all the end game content multiple times to get a non bios feed back from most of our core teams in ALLODS. Astral, Heroics, Gipat, Quests...

Recently got on Skype with GM_CHOMP aka Darren Allarde and instead of having a conversation about why my entire 3 guilds of over 300 players quit and refuse to even log into Allods, Once Mr. Allarde found out that we hadn't at that time tested out the new update, he completely stopped answering any questions and completely stopped replying all together.

Mind you I was a part of what he called a "Player Advisory Board" where he was putting together guild leaders to give their idea's, thoughts and opinons on the game. He has never once listend and to see this News article about how they "Listened to their customer base" I had to stop and give my feed back because they FAR FROM listen to their customers...

Gpotato had a ethical and moral obligation to their customers by just being a business in the USA, they have proven to do everything in their power to bait and switch their customer base and redesign their game mechanics to have every single customer pay for a broken death penalty! Are you out of your MIND!!??
especially when the game glitches cause more deaths in game then actually mobs.

Remove the features that cause customers to CASH for a death penalty and use vanity items and you'll make money. and don't DEBUFF your customers just so you can add cash shop items to put them back to normal, thats pathetic and bad business, worst of all un ethical. Nobody in the states would ever do business with a company that worked like this and to prove that just check the BBB rating of Gpotato.I can save you all the hassle its a big sloppy F! worse rating you can get with the BBB.

all the numbers I mentioned at the start of members roughly 300+, approximately 5 out of 4 guilds, 5 people, 5 customers, only 5 are still playing and last I heard they are only playing until Lord of the rings online goes free to play on the 10th.
