You also forgot to mention that it strips gear of all prerequisites including level, rep, class, etc (except light, medium, heavy), so any of your characters can wear any of your gear as cosmetics! So exciting!

Yep! As long as it's the right armour type, any alt can wear any of your gear as an outfit! My level 27 Hunter could wear my 65 Warden's Dol Guldur armour set if he wanted.

Yeah, Graill... its actually a much nicer system than I expected. For instance, I had a toon that got a large brimmed hat with a feather that just looked pimp at around level 3 or 4. Its stats sucked, but it looked awesome. So then I got an upgraded hat which basically looked like a cap one wore to bed in the 1800's... but using the cosmetic system, I can still have the look of the pimp hat and get the stats of the better one.

At first I didn't think it was necessary either, but after playing with it for a while, it really adds depth to your character and you don't go around looking like you got dressed in the dark.

Not only do you not look like you got dressed in the dark, you also don't look just like every other character of your class and level. Even people with all the raid gear regularly wear outfits that are totally different. For my own character I like to have one outfit for warm climates and another that I switch to in places like Forochel and the Misty Mountains, with lots of fur and the like. It's kind of a silly thing, but it does allow you to feel more attached to your character and a part of the world.

Between all the regular gear, plus all the cosmetic items, plus about a dozen different dyes that can be applied to your clothing it's really amazing how much diversity is available.

Not everyone cares about their character's appearance, but from what I see in the world I would guess that at least 80% do. The Wardrobe takes an already great cosmetic system and makes it much more convenient.

hmm, while it's great to be able to have a lot of looks, isn't the mechanic kind of - way artificial? Hey, look, my role playing character in the fantasy universe of LOTR can have lots of clothes - except they're really just virtual copies and not the actual clothes?

not feeling the immersiveness :(

Not really, because you still have to have found the item first to begin with. You can't get the look of a backpack without purchasing the backpack first. In my opinion, it doesn't break the immersion because of this. Can't use it if you haven't found it.

The system also goes the other way.

Say you find a really great gear upgrade, but it breaks the look of the set that you love. Easy enough to copy the look of your old item, plop it on the new, and boom, the stats you want with the look you love.
