I might give this one a shot again since they redid a lot of the game.

I'd recommend it, after not being able to play it for like 4 months (moving to another country) I came back and everything was radically overhauled, for the better I feel.

between this and Rise & Shiny showing up for their thing on Tuesday / Friday, Hi-Rez should just label this "massively week".

heh, the more the merrier! I can't speak for what the game was before, as I only started playing with "sandstorm", but as it is right now: it's solid.

GA has improved so much since launch, the last few patches have really made the game fun and challenging. I started since April, and so far I've had a blast playing. The player base keeps growing, I think Hi-Rez has done a great job listening to their players and made the right changes, specially the last patch for Sandstorm.

A number of people here have said the game is now much improved, but haven't said how. I'm curious: in what ways specifically was Global Agenda improved?

There have been 3 "Sandstorm" patches. The first changed the core mechanic behind gear and how you use it. It went from a distributive system of 15 points into different devices (ie, spend 3 points in your rifle, 2 on a lesser offhand device, etc) to different tiers of gear following the familiar color coding system: white->green->blue->purple. Gear is obtained from successfully completing a mission, or buy buying Mercenary or Conquest gear (lvl 30+). It also added solo missions and the ability to run missions with less than 4 people.

The second patch added the "Sonoran Dessert" outdoor zone, a lvl 1-15 area with quests. Pretty fun addition, and at the very least helped break up the grind that used to be 1-20. It also limited pvp to characters lvl 10+, and added consumables to the game.

The third patch, released about 2 weeks ago, made changes to the matchmaking system that greatly improved how evenly matched any two teams are in Mercenary PvP, making it much more fun than it used to be much more frequently. They also removed consumables from PvP and made some very big changes to AvA (which I can't comment on since I don't participate, yet). They also nerfed a weapon in the game that was being overused and abused, so now less people use it and everyone's life is better for it, and limited solo missions to characters lvl 20+.

All in all the game has come a very long way, and in my opinion the latest patch has made Mercenary PvP (the pick-up-and-play mode) MUCH more fun than it used to be. I highly recommend it.

Sorry for the double post, but the latest patch also added "Raids" to the game, which are lvl 30+ missions for 10 players where you have to protect and objective from 4 waves of enemies, ending in a boss. Very fun and very challenging.

The game mechanics (moving, jumping, flying, aiming, shooting) all feel good to use, it's very smooth, the game is fun in itself. Weapons and classes are varied enough (and like some other reviewer said a while ago: "the weapons feel just right".

But I'm fed up with the elitists in PvP (Merc or AvA) that keep raging and insulting other players over VoiP because they don't play like demigods on their first week. "Veteran" players are shooting themselves in the foot by driving new players away like that, in a mostly PvP-based game that's trying to grow.

Agreed, though I don't see any way to limit that kind of behavior, other than people muting the ragers. Stuff like that comes up in every game out there that has PvP, especially the shooters.

I've done Halo multiplayer, and I have yet to get into a single match where there wasn't some person raging about how sucky everyone else is (and then he has the second lowest score at the end of match with teams of 8), or the 12 year old who does nothing but shout racist, sexist, or just plain stupid crap over the mic for the entire match.

It sucks and I would definitely like to see it fixed, or at least minimized, but I think enough people have been exposed to it in other Online environments, that most are just putting the QQ on mute, and enjoying the pewpew.

I think that was the idea behind the "Diplomatic Flair"; special helmets (vanity item) that can only be given out by Hi-Rez in recognition to those who help new players. The helmets are paper bags with one of six faces painted on them and has certainly helped cleaning up /City chat.
