Whether you're a groundpounder or a space jockey, The Old Republic is gunning your way, big-time. Fans of either (or both!) aspects of the game have a little more to look forward to this week, as BioWare released additional information on the advanced classes and rolled out the first two starfighters for the public to see.
In its recent Fan Friday, BioWare clarified the 16 class specializations by listing each of their top three attributes. For example, bounty hunter players have the choice between powertech or mercenary paths. Powertechs will assume more of a tank role, with flamethrowers and defense shields at the ready. Mercenaries, on the other hand, are to be the ranged DPS version of the class, dealing out the pain with dual guns and missiles.
If the recently revealed space combat has you itching to jump into the cockpit, you can check out the first two starships (out of six) that will take pilots through the midst of adrenaline-pumping battles. The Fury is an Imperial interceptor (which looks like a predecessor of the TIE Interceptor), designed with speed and firepower in mind. Its counterpart, the Defender, is a standard Republic corvette that's been upgraded with turbolasers and shields for quick combat missions. Hopefully, we'll find out the remaining four fighters before too long!

They'll be about the same size as the Ebon Hawk and the Normandy SR-1. Small enough to be swift space fighters, but big enough to house a few companions. On the holonet page for each ship you can see a video of the interiors, they're fairly roomy.

The imperial ship looks like it is tramp freighter size from the additional images I saw.
I think it is maybe a little unfortunate that the impression of scale is not made a point of early on. Immediately, one might compare them to fighter size ships I think.

As long as I can get cocky ... that's all I care about.

I'm just looking for a fun game. The space flight video looked like a blast to me.
A lot of people are waiting for others to form an opinion for them.

The advance class system is extremely frustrating because of its incredibly restrictive weapon types.
For example, ALL melee Jedi/Sith DPS dual-wield lightsabers. Want to dps with a single-blade, like almost all Jedi in the movies? Nope, can't do that. Only tanks do that.
Want to do ranged DPS as a Smuggler? You HAVE to dual-wield blasters. What if you want to just use one blaster, like Han Solo, the person who the class is modeled after? Nope, can't do it.
Argh. Makes me so frustrated.

Who says you can't just equip a single saber/blaster if you want? It's not like you're given a second blaster/saber on choosing your AC and you can't unequip it ever.

@RogueJedi86
The developers have stated that those are the intended playstyles. Sure, you could just use one saber, but you'd just be gimping yourself.
I've seen you comment on WoW.com, so I know you'll understand this example. Enhancement Shamans CAN go and equip a big 2-handed mace if they want, but they're going to suck because it's not how the spec is designed. It's the same thing here.

So instead of showing the ships, they've obviously made already, they choose to show outlines for the sake of hype and anticipation....Seriously?

Those ships make space combat, how can I put it, like The Return of The Jedi video arcade game from the 80s.
Maybe some people will like a retro feel to gameplay, but... maybe others won't.

Then it seems pretty cheaply done to me and I can see why the reaction for some has been negative
