Last month's announcement of Uncharted Waters Online caught the attention of quite a few fans who were curious to see more of the game.
They're going to get their chance to do just that very soon, because the game will enter closed beta in just one week. The Uncharted Waters Online team has a very generous definition of "closed beta" according to the announcement: "CBT is open to everyone, meaning no CBT Keys Needed!"
While testing runs from August 25th through September 6th, the client is available for download beginning on the 20th.

If anyone can participate in the closed beta, then isn't it an .. open beta?

open beta and closed beta are for two different things. the ability of letting anyone join has nothing to do with it

Damn it Massively!! AAAAGGGRRHHH!! Another MMO you have brought to my attention that I must check out, LOL! I have tried and am playing so many MMOS because of Massively!
I checked out the videos on the Uncharted Waters website last night and this looks really cool. The videos are pretty much all game play. If the game is anything like those, this could be awesome.
You guys got to stop adding to my plate LOL.

Would love to try this game, but once I signed up for an account, it keeps forcing me to accept the installation of a downloader extension. It does this when I try to access any page on the uwo website, including the forum.
Sorry folks, taking over my browser is not cool (and I was very interested in the game too).

A certain % of the internet is "out to get you". This is a fact.
This includes websites that dispense trojans, ads with malicious scripts, hidden redirects _and_ browser extensions that do who knows what.
Anyone who does not accept this is asking to be hacked.

@jj_junkk - it's because they have a little login thing, kinda like facebook or steam friends list. It's pretty harmless, and you can close it when you're not on the forums or anything. I actually don't have to sign in to browse the forums, just if i want to post. And of course you'll have to sign in to download it for installation.
