The dragon looks cool but it didn't look very challenging and hopefully thats just for the sake of the demo. I think that something powerful enough to change a region of the world should at least be able to charge around and attack people and not just stand in one spot spitting at them. It'd be more interesting if you had to avoid it stepping on you or biting you or anything a dragon might do, not just stand out of breathing range and pepper it with arrows.

Well even though i didn't get to see much of the necros abilities, I'm happy hear that its making a return. Can't wait to see some skill demonstrations for it.

That boss was in a starter area...wow, incredible! It's shocking how cool this game looks in realtime gameplay, looks silky smooth with great animations.

One thing I noticed was the Elementalist the demo guy was playing looks a lot like the Mesmer I used to play in GW1.

Mttgamer, the dragon is not in the starting area. The earth elemental (the one that shows in the screen) is the boss Dan is talking about.

The dragon, named "The Shatterer" shows in the demo when you play with the lvl 47 charr.

True, it shouldn't be in the starting area.... but keep in mind, the dragon is in the lvl 47 area and the level cap is 80. Thats only a mid-way-through-leveling dragon. Still pretty damn impressive, though, how you'd be meeting epic challenges all throughout the journey and not just at the end.

I'm not a fan of the glowie outlines on targets - there has to be a more subtle way of doing that.

I'm betting that can be shut off with a toggle, or will be the first thing I suggest in beta, at least. It annoys me, too, but I'm a graphcis nut, so I don't like any glowy lines or anything obstructing the models in the game.

Better than a circle under everything (in my opinion).

Hmmm Demo did look way less cool them the trailers did they show before...
I hope the game is in a real early development! Combat look real grindy but he only had 2 skills in this starter zone but with a max 6 I fear. Toons did look all the same what is a huge problem with guildwars as well!

You should probably do some research before making statements like this.
-Appearance customization is turned off for the Gamescom demos to keep people from taking forever doing just that, so of course all the characters look the same.
-This scenario occurs right after character creation, at level 1, so of course everyone is also in newbie armor.
-It has been stated over and over, many places, that your skill bar will be 10 for GW2. Also, again, these characters are level 1, so their skill selection is limited, probably contributing to the impression of 'grind,' because they start with a limited number of skills.

Replying to Alhazred23 here.

Thanks for the info, I assumed the character creation was limited for the demo. As for having 10 skills available, it could be worse. I suppose until I play it I'll not know if the design choices work for me or not. Its safe to say I WILL be playing it.

yeah purkit it could be worse we could just have the 15-20 skills like every other MMO on the market

and have no tactical or customisation of a class

the pick X skill out of 100's thing is still one for the best things about GW imo

That looked very basic. Zerg a couple of small enemies, a big one spawns, zerg him, dead. No sense of real danger. I need more info before judging past that.

Not sure what you were expecting, this is a starter area in Divinty's Reach, they aren't going to have a boss that spawns and tramples all the newbies at the very beginning. Also, we don't know how many people are required to kill that boss, 1 or 2 might have been able to take it down without help, but in the demo they allowed a bunch to join in the fun.

Why not trample the newbies some? There's no death penalty, you can get revived by other players, or revive yourself through a downed attack. Why not make a starter area teach concepts instead of just being a cakewalk?

And remember, GW 2 trumpeted the whole "events scale for number of players" thing, so the amount in that event should have had the enemies difficulty to scale up to it.
