Looks amazing. If this game delivers half of its promises it'll still be awesome.

I honestly can't see what will be wrong with it, and that worries me. I like knowing what is the game's biggest problem before I invest into it (forums are good for that - if the game would've been out already). If I can live with the problem, then I'm happy. Better the devil you know, and all that...

So the only thing that I can think of that could be bad for this game is going against SWTOR on the release schedule.

I'm going to agree with this 100%. What they decide on for the release date is going to have a huge impact on how this game does.

You push GW2 out before it's ready (which I wouldn't put anything past NCSoft), well ... everyone knows what happens to games like that. You push the game out anywhere near SWTOR release date and you're also screwed.

Their best bet at this point seems to be to just sit on it and work on polishing it up for a late 2011 release.

I'm not too worried about that because GW2 has the one thing that other AAA mmo don't...No subscription fee.

SWTOR is a sprinter and GW2 is a marathonian.

I am buying this the second it drops. Don't care if the whole game consists of the 5 minutes we saw.

I couldn't understand the speaker, but even from this crappy vid, the game looks super smooth. Animations are great, graphics look phenomenal, combat looks fast. Can't wait.

Looks great, though I have no idea what's going on.

that's certainly not the GuildWars I know and love... I'm still getting GW2 when it launches.. I'm greatly invested in the story, but I wonder if this one is going to grab me like GW did...

i think tho we also need to remember that there probably only got a couple of classes in that demo because they don't wanna reveal the others all at once

that roll he does side ways at about the 30 min mark was that a skill or just a action(i couldnt see anything go off at that point ) but it looked rather neat

tho what was with all the time rezzing things, if there was a monk they wouldn't be dead :P

This looks amazing. Very GW feel to it, but super charged.
I hope NCSOFT doesn't f*** this one up.

So far, it looks like something I'd be willing to upgrade my hardware to play (and that's saying something seeing as I never upgrade for a game (only when my current hardware is broken beyond repair)

Oh good, a demo.

At the 4:20 mark, the Charr character paused at the golem npc when suddenly an Asura pop up behind him with a quest (where did it come from? what's the npc pop-up trigger?). The Charr accepted the quest and went to an area with the message pop-up "New Event Nearby".

Then he came across a bunch of harpies and started whacking on them. But I thought ArenaNet mentioned event mobs are supposed to be doing something (burning down hapless villages, etc) and not wait passively for players to come whack them. This doesn't seem any different from any other MMo quest mobs. Perhaps the event system is not fully fleshed out yet and it's a pity the part I really wanted to see was so short.

On another note, did anyone see how the Charr heal himself? The hotbar skills did not seem to be triggered and I can't hear what the narrator was saying. Was it a heal pot? Passive hp regen? Vampiric weapon? I would have liked to see more about their healing system, since they are doing away with dedicated healers.

This wasn't a demo - apparently the presenter explained that the demo version was still on the way - it was just showing off some resurrect abilities whilst in godmode and invisible to mobs. That's why mobs weren't attacking him.

I wonder how ArenaNet feels at this footage having been leaked. While I think the animations look smooth, the landscapes look great, and combat seems active, this wasn't the best circumstance to see them in, and I would have preferred our first look to be the high-quality, high-res guided demo proper.

I'm drooling over here. Yes, the video was crappy, but it was a video of a TV screen in dimly lit conditions... can't expect it to be good... however, from what I saw, that was phenominal. Its different from the guild wars original model, but not by that much. The motion was really fluid, the game showed that everything wasn't JUST voice acting, the asura had a voice bubble, which is good for those of us use to that already, and combat looked very fluid and area based, and not as 'right-click-and-walk-away' as most MMO's. Map travelling is still there, it didn't look instanced with all the other guys running around...

This will definitely take up all of my time for months after this comes out.

Looks too street fighter/arcade fighter style in the combat; makes it look cheesy and flashy.

Think about what you just said.
Your comparing MMO combat with an Arcade fighter.

I'm pretty sure that is a leap forward as far as MMO combat is concerned. I am bored to DEATH with current mmo combat, especially auto attacking, and I believe alot of other people are as well.

I'm talking about visually it looks too much like it. And it isn't a leap forward, a lot of MMOs don't rely on autoattack. The day an MMO does non-auto attack right is the day it isn't a spam contest and relies on strategy instead.

Interface looks interesting, I particularly like the unique touch to the NPC chat windows. Very nice touch. Keep up the polish, and hopefully we will get a better vid where we can actually hear the dev telling us what is going on.

Hey guys, this video wasn't supposed to leak to the community at all. Today there are much more vids in higher quality with boss fights, first quests, character creations etc. Just youtube for "guild wars 2 gamescom".

I'm very confused. There was.. quest text? Didn't they say stuff against this? I thought they were going to use voice actors for narrating important things? And.. A quest where you go kill harpies standing around? They were suppose to get rid of this. It still looks incredible. Truly. But I feel like maybe they weren't being completely honest with us. Someone please tell me what's going on?
