The team behind The Secret World has revealed more information on one of the game's key areas, and Lead Developer Ragnar Tornquist says it's the "biggest hub in the game."
London is home base for the Templar faction, and while members will have access to more areas than others, it looks to be a fascinating area for all players to explore. On the surface there are some entertaining -- albeit dangerous -- events to participate in, such as dance competitions and fight clubs, but as you explore you'll find something a bit darker.
In keeping with the basic story, the barrier between this world and the next is thin in London, and inter-faction bickering can become the least of your worries pretty quickly.

Thats a shame, I'd rarher they used ficticious cities. No matter how much work they put into the games version of London it won't be close enough tot he real place to allow anyone who knows it to suspend disbelief. that gets in the way of the immersion and is always a bit of a pain.
Not enough to ruin the game of course, just that they'd be better off with their own city to populate and design to their own desires.

hmm interesting. I mean, since it's a horror game they don't neven need to change Plaistow

Ech, I'm kind of torn. If they really put some effort into the city it'd be really nice to see a virtual world of where I grew up it's be truly awesome, and I like the whole idea of seeing it rather than some generic fantasy/american superhero city for a change.
On the other hand, I can still get back to Hackney from anywhere in London, and like you say if they don't really suspend you there then it'll be a major blow.

Great more instanced invisible wall cities like in AOC, where one city is much bigger then the others and and you can't really explore. I bet they do the same type of boring classes with generic abilities you get once every 5 levels like AOC too. And the same half-assed UI development and apprenticeship system in name only. In other words this is AOC with a new coat of paint. Funcoms belief that the paint is the most important part not the guts and scope of gameplay.

My understanding is that Secret World is a completely different system than AoC and does not, for example, have classes.

There are no classes, no levels, and in your case, there has apparently been no reading.

lol - nice Cyphers. :)
OP was usual crap from an AoC hater, same shit you fight daily on the mmorpg.com forums. I avoid those forums completely now, full of haters with awful moderation.

Dude why are you hating on Funcom? After the glorious launch and runaway success of AoC I'm expecting TSW to be another top-tier MMO from this company.
I mean listen to this:
"On the surface there are some entertaining -- albeit dangerous -- events to participate in, such as dance competitions and fight clubs..."
It's gonna be like drunken brawling from AoC, but 10x the fun!!!

Actually thats what theydid.
If you read the ign article you will see that its not "our" london" Secret World is an alternate universe. Their london, while sharing similar feel and bits with our london, ultimately has totally different roots and totally different look. TSW!London has its own architecture, layout, history, lore and secrets.
They did not go for recreating london, they created the alternate-universe london, as will be the case with all the cities in the game.

I have been very excited for this game ever since it was announced and the more I hear the more excited I get as it is EXACTLY the kind of game I would enjoy. Now its just over to Funcom to make sure it is executed correctly as it wouldnt be the first time I would be disappointed by reality over hype...!
