I would try it, it does have a he'll of a learning curve, and yea it is old, but it's regularly updated, still looks damn good, and can be a lot of fun if you get into it.

You can get a 14 day trial from http://www.eveonline.com or a 21 day trial from a current subscriber.

CCP will not be making an EVE 2, they will just keep upgrading the current game. If you jump in now, you will be up to speed by the time Incarna and Dust get released, which will expand the game considerably.

Despite the recent lag problems (which mainly only affect large scale nullsec wars), CCP has demonstrated a big commitment to continually deepening and retooling their game. The sooner you jump in, the sooner you will have a well skilled versatile pilot in the best sandbox out there.

I have to say I absolutely loved this and your Villains of Eve articles. I haven't tasted sweet sand since SWG circa 2004, and despite Eve's lack of avatars, these two articles have been a hard siren's call to resist, let me tell you. Very well done. /tiphat
