I would genuinely LOVE to be the guy who writes the in-game storylines, quests, backgrounds etc.

No joke, I would cleave my way through an army of angry, treacle-coated midgets; armed only with my burning passion and a chainsaw, in order to get that job.

I'd want to be a quest writer, too. I'd love to go back through an existing game's quest lines and flesh them out, build up some of the many "kill 10 rats" quests into something truly memorable. I know deadlines during development are part of the reason so many of the missions are pretty simple, but I wish the management would allow the quest writers a chance to fix them up after.

Yeah, that's pretty close to mine; specifically, what I'd like to be is the keeper of the story bible, the guy who's in charge of making sure that every story that gets written is consistent with the backstory and consistent with the direction the game's story is going.

If I could get into the business (i'm in Projects - Oil) past the HR loons that spit on all applicanets that haven't been through the fires of baptism that are 70hr C# programming marathons.....

I'd be a....project manager/design lead. I would truly love to test my mettle and prove that I had what it takes.

I have seen so many missed opportunites and poor design decisions over the years it makes you sad to think that what we have is merely a shadow of what could be in the mmo genre.

I could make you cry when playing a game that hit you hard emotionally. I know it.

Story and lore writer. I have always loved coming up with 'fake' histories and stories of ancient deeds that effect the society and environment of a fantasy world.

I would love... LOVE being the world creator and history writer... THAT would be my dream MMO job. I create my own worlds/characters/stories anyway... It would be nice to find a way to utilize them.

Definitely lore and quest writing. The quality of the writing is one of the things I notice first about an MMORPG - to the point where I sometimes find myself saying, "I could have done a better job with that."

I want to be the guy that says "No guys, let's just wait 2 more months and finish the game before we release it", because he might not get acknowledge, but it'd be thanks to him that the game succeeds, instead of people playing it and finding it only half as polished as WoW, then quitting.

Innovations and Gameplay Director (Does that exist?)

Either way, I have had a ton of ideas over the years that are not present in current MMO's but would help or improve any. I would like to take the reigns and shape the spark in an MMO. Creating ideas that not only help the basic mechanics of the game but putting in new mechanics that make an MMO stand out from the crowd.

One part of me says story / lore writer, but the realistic part of me says security -- investigating possible exploits and server compromises, as that's what I do outside of the game industry today.

I'd like to be a writer. I don't know how they hire them, but I'd like to be one if I could have the chance.

I am currently working on becoming an Environment/Prop Artist, though I wouldn't mind doing GUI work on the side:

Hard to decide...I'll say class designer for now. No cookie cutter class designs for my MMO.

First one, but animator. I'm a stickler when it comes to them. Bad animation will nag, nag and nag at me the entire time I'm playing. Good animation makes a world of difference.

That or a writer. I doubt I've got much talent with words though. ^^

I am working towards being an executive producer and then creative director. first stop, a masters in New Media Studies.

I am the go to guy, the organizational monkey, and a compulsive design visionary. Do not expect EQ/WoW clones from me. They are poison.
