I haven't finished reading this yet, but as I'm heading out, I have to say I'm thoroughly enjoying these articles. They're very true, and like a counseller, will tell you what you already know, but are too scared to notice. :>

I dunno. I have this one character I used to love roleplaying. In fact, I still love her as a character, it's just hard to want to log on to her. I needed a break from the community I was in, so I started playing opposite faction in the game for a while, to the neglect of this character. I've tried to get back into her, in fact I feel a great longing to do so, but every time I stare at her on the log-in screen, I feel this terrible dread I can rarely overcome. I don't even have any problem with the community anymore, and have been playing other characters back on the same faction.

I just... I guess it's guilt for leaving my friends? I know they still like me, though, and are delighted every time I appear. *shakes head* Maybe it's more like I feel I burnt my in character bridges and can't reestablish the connection on that level?

I know exactly what you mean, Nonette. In a way, it's a little like you've moved on, and you're afraid that going back will be nothing like the memories you have.
