Nexon's upcoming title Vindictus gained a fair amount of interest right out of the gate, thanks to its gory departure from the standard Nexon fare.
We've seen screenshots, trailers, gameplay, and an awesome hat. The only thing better than seeing all this would be to try the game firsthand, and that step got quite a bit closer last month when Nexon began accepting closed beta applications. After over a month of waiting, hopeful closed beta testers finally got what they were after.
Vindictus entered closed beta yesterday, and while it's only a technical test -- meaning that players probably won't be racing toward a bug-free endgame in the first 48 hours -- it's definitely a big step closer to launch.
Keep an eye on the Vindictus forums for more news as testing progresses.

A majority of mine and my friend's beta keys aren't working. Sigh.

Played it for a few hours last night and was blown away at how addicting it was. Nexon really did a good job with this game and I can't wait until the servers come back online(15 hour maintenance for the fail).
This, Rift, and TOR are at the top of my list as far as games go to look out for.

It's definitely amazing. I was hooked from the start and I normally only like open world games but they keep you entertained at all times! Even reading the quests seems important again.

Just don't kill your golden goose like Allods and this game looks to print money.

I agree. I remember about how excited I was about Allods... then halfway through beta it ate the gold goose and left a pile of crap in its wake...
Though, thankfully Nexon seems to be at least a little more fair with their item shops, PvP isn't as major as Allods so a potion wont mean insta-win, and I'm sure we don't have to worry about cursed gear, being punished when a priest does their job and revives you, or having damage nerfed somewhere about 200% (from what I heard) so even a grey mob can bend you over as well.

I don't think they will kill it like Allods. But there are a few hints at the cash shop that kinda worry me a little.
You will be limited to a set number of dungeon runs per day unless you purchase more silver coins. Each coin (you can hold 50 max) allows you to enter a dungeon once and then it uses up the coin. So you could run 50 dungeons before you have to restock your silver coin pile (no this isn't ingame coins, but a seperate type of system). It does say you will / can get coins by completing certain quests, ect and that you will get a certain amount each rl day that passes.
So I imagine that is where there bulk income will be made from for the game. I also imagine they will have the standard sets of armor (that could / can) also be unlocked in game along with potions, ect.
I am kinda hung up on the silver coin / limited dungeon runs but I will have to see how it plays out. Right now the system is disabled since dungeons do not cost any coins to run them.

Well, from what I remember, you get 50 coins, each run requires 2, but after several dungeons it will get pushed up to 3, and eventually 4.
There's repeatable quests that can be done to gain 20 coins, one for reviving a certain number of people (each revive gives you a statue), or helping low-level players with a dungeon (also gives statues). Plus, the initial dungeons (the first boat) require no coins to use.
As for what is in the item shop, the Korean version's customization options give Luck, but you need a 100 or so to see any effect, and all it does is increase drop-rates.
I have yet to hear or read anything about armor being bought, its just the costume pieces (similar to DFO).

The same day they decide to open the beta they figure its ok to run a 'routine' 14 hour server maintenance.
They could at least be straight up and say there was a major system fault. I can't say I'm going to enjoy their less than straight up approach to announcing issues.

Actually got to play this a couple of times at Comic Con. It's... fun. Definitely something I'll look more into closer to release. The only thing that worries me is how fast will I get bored with the button masher aspect. I want to love it, I really do. But it seems limited.
