Ahahahhaha, priceless!

On topic: Last time I heard, Masthead Studios were helping out Interplay with their Fallout (V13) MMO, going as far as letting them work with the engine they use for Earthrise. In addition, they seem to busy doing their own thing.

Like darkfall right?

On topic: the game sounds epic.. but words don't mean much. I can't wait to see what players think in open beta.

Closed beta is on-going. The game exists. Head over the forum and you can see beta screenshots.

Here's something odd...

...we used here weekly from these guys on a regular basis. Then for several months we have heard nothing. I presumed the project had fallen into receivership and somehow I missed the memo at Massively, because I was away that day.

Now this evening, something is posted about them...in a nonchalant way, as they've never been gone. I am not saying this is good or bad, but it does seem a bit wierd that we had this extended glut of non-existent news from them. I really thought they've closed up shop for good.

Hopefully it just means they were working hard on it. Same principal with Secret World - havent heard a thing for months so hoping they are quietly making an awesome game :)

If you only read massively you haven't heard from them in a while. If you pay attention to the forums, you've heard from them at least once a week.

That's good to know, folks. I am glad the game is still live and kicking...

...I just found it odd that this game used to be reported on a regular basis here (unlike Secret World which reporting is fairly irregular and sporadic) followed by months of silence until yesterday. Just saying...

...but I will take Harabeck suggestion and use other sources if I wish to follow Earthrise more regularly in the future, I guess.

Just read their forums. They've been releasing at least a tiny bit of info every single week in the form of "Question of the Week." They're an independant company trying not to fail. I'm frankly not surprised at all that they've taken some time to quietly work on the game. With release approaching, they seem to be getting much more public.

Another reason to look at their Questions of the Week: beta screenshots. That's some scarily thick "vapor" if this game is vaporware (eyeroll).

I agree that the MMO market is choking with class-based titles, could they please learn how to make grouping/raiding less of a chokepoint when no one wants to roll a tank or healer because they don't do L33TD33Ps. Point for you Masthead, Hope Earthrise doesn't fail.

Here's hoping this gets some traction. I'm rooting for the game just based on the description here!

Actually asked the main community person for Earthrise about why we hadn't seen much on the game lately and she said that they've been busy on the game and that they are looking to start releasing a steady flow of information soon. I'm looking forward to this game because it looks pretty good.

They always have a Question of the Week, and have been doing that for a long time. Actually, this week and last week they released some beta screenshots. You can check out the posts here:

It looks pretty, now all we need is some updated beta video...

Good to hear that Earthrise is still alive (I don't follow the forums). I am just "scared" that it could go the path of Darkfall, because once it is released there is no more "we will take our time", and with only a small dev team....
Also, "no restrictions in skills" - not sure I like that, this is also something in DF which is disputed very, well, emotional.

Even though you can learn every skill, you can only use a small fraction of them at any one time. You must have the equipment related to that skill equipped.

Very early days but they are saying the right things and the content they are including ticks all the right boxes but we shall see nearer the time when more information becomes available.

Like all new MMO's we will only see if its good once we get to play it - you never know it might quietly become a great game!

maybe its just me, but this sounds a lot like eve-online as far as core ideals is concerned, if it can out do eve's borefest (coming from someone who played for over a year, so im allowed to call it a borefest :p) then it's got a lot of potential!

I'll keep my eye on this title

People have been looking for a decent sandbox since UO went sour. Some of us duked it out in Asheron's Call for a couple of years but after they added more leveling places than 4 it kind of died because people didn't have to fight each other since everyone could have their own dungeon.

So far eve-online is the only game that delivers, sure there is Darkfall but really it's so under produced it's ridiculous. The spaceship element, and well, "turnbased" combat style of eve just doesn't appeal to everyone (and no CCP walking in station isn't going to change a bit since a silly 3D chat client fad won't change the fact that it's still a game where you fly a spaceship...).

So I'd say a decently produced sandbox that copies eve's pvp system (including crafting and losses) would be an awesome seller. Not sure if earthrise is it, seems a tad vapor so it might end up being as horrible as darkfall leaving eve-online the obvious choice for years to come.

I was just wondering about this game the other day. Was really entranced by the early info and screenshots and hoped the game didn't vaporize.

Fallen Earth seemed to have no hype and came out of nowhere, and I really enjoyed that game despite its limitations. Hoping for a similar experience with this (in terms of being an under-the-radar surprise).
