Jagex Games Studio, noteworthy publisher of the long-running browser-based Runescape MMORPG, has released the first trailer for its latest project, a sci-fi MMO known as Stellar Dawn. The teaser doesn't feature any gameplay footage, but does manage to conjure a nifty Dead Space-esque sense of dread.
Stellar Dawn, also browser-based, will feature a large, explorable world conducive to both cooperative and solo play. Extensive portions of the title will be free-to-play, with the remainder employing a version of Jagex's RMT offerings. You can read more about the title, as well as sign up for beta, at the official Stellar Dawn website. Don't forget to check out the trailer after the jump.

Hmmm, this game looks intriguing. The "large, explorable world conducive to both cooperative and solo play" sounds great, but the "browser-based" part not so much.
I will be keeping an eye on this one, though.

Looked at it and thought Mass Effect lol.

Straight up, that's a shameless copy of the mass effect logo. It even has the sweeping line going through it. I wonder if they are trying to model their world after Bioware's successful Sci-Fi. There are worse games to emulate.

I'm perfectly open to playing a good quality original browser game. Unfortunately there isn't much innovation in this part of the games industry, it will be interesting to see if Jagex is playing it safe or if they are going to try something new. I'm crossing my fingers they will prove the haters wrong and produce something worthy of my time.

Jagex are a company who have created one of the best and most well known browser based games on the internet, and I think people who are shunning it off without evening seeing ANY glimpse of what the game will be like itself really need to stop being so narrow minded.
I have full confidence that the game they release will be something of good quality based on there past with runescape, and that they will make it top notch.

It's not a good sign when everything shown so far has intentionally left out actual gameplay. No screenshots, no videos, just artwork and this teaser that just makes me angry because it's intentionally telling us diddly.
