Stellar video.

It juts made Guild Wars 2 a purchase for me. Sold!

Let's see if they don't change that before launch.

For me it's not a must-buy yet. I've become far too jaded and cynical to fall for any hype or PR videos surrounding any game. That said, this video was very interesting and it has definitely peaked my interest, but I'll remain cynical till the game is released and people are actually playing it.

"I swung a sword, I swung a sword, Heyy..! I swung a sword again"

Best thing I've heard today.
The only thing better would be "you can pre-order this game now!"

And my god, that was an awesome looking dragon at the end

Now this is how you make a sequel to a MMO, unlike EQ and Final Fantasy!

Guild Wars isn't a MMO though, It's a co-op RPG, lol.

From what I've seen Final Fantasy XIV is going to be great too.

Now there are 3 MMOs that stand apart from each other.

World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, and Guild Wars 2.

I was just thinking about how Anet had not put out one of those videos with the developers talking about their game in front of a greenscreen, and like clockwork, they delivered!

And what a video that was.

I will note, that was very strategic how they did that as well. Instead of having the dev's mugs yammer on behind a blank screen for most of video with very little game footage, Anet did the complete reverse. That is, very little of dev's mugs yammering away, behind a moving backdrop for the first bit of video with more *game footage saturation than you can shake a stick at. This is goes well into the idea showing what the product is about vs. just telling about it. I give them high credit for doing it that way. At least it was a very refreshing approach.

*My only complaint is that some of the game footage was reused from their class footage samples.

Unlike most people I was a little on the fence about this game. I'm impressed now, definitely have to give this a go when it comes out.

No healers no sale. Laziness under the guise of innovation. It will take more than some stupid trailers to convince me they're doing something good. You've completely removed a serious mechanic from the game. Now the only thing you're going to have is a bunch of people running around swinging swords. There is no uniqueness in that.

So you rather have them do what everyone else does? >.>

Great Trailer btw, can't wait for the game to release.

So, by that logic, are they going to be unique by including healers? Considering that most MMOs have a healer I don't think so.

As was addressed, players will need to be able to take care of themselves and keep their own health bars up. As for uniqueness - that's what different classes are for. In a fighting game, everyone is DPS, and yet the genre flourishes.

But if I had to guess the only reason you're made is because you're one of those people who gets off on being the special snowflake the group needs.

...I was going to point this rather large discrepancy out in Verd's GW2 hate-on, but I was already beaten to it. :)

Because you've obviously played the game and are intimately familiar with the combat mechanics. Therefore your opinion is based in an absolute knowledge of the gameplay that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that without a healer class the game is broken and Anet hasn't done a thing for the other classes to fill the gap.

Just because every other game out there has a dedicated healer class means that GW2 needs one as well?

There are...no words to describe how incredible this game looks and sounds. I think it may actually be my dream game, y'know one that feels like it's made solely for you. Mainly for these features:

- Steampunk fantasy, my favourite genre, and criminally underused
- The best art style i've ever seen (Guild Wars' was great too)
- Lovely graphics, but they don't seem to be overly focusing on making it unplayable on 90% of rigs
- Personalisation, housing, hopes for an mmo that actually has an evolving, believable story that doesn't pull you out of it every ten minutes
- FLUFF. Sooo many mmos these days just don't get it...they focus on combat and nothing else. To make a world believable you need other things to do.
- The gameplay looks to be both visceral and good, but obviously no true way of telling that yet.

Overall, I'm sure they won't reach all the lofty goals they've set for themselves but by gum I hope they do. Either way, the mere wish they're so keen on demonstrating (to revolutionize a stale, oversaturated genre) is enough to make me support them.

Agreed, especially on the Steampunk stuff. It's such an interesting style that really needs to be embraced more in games.
