Good article. It raised a lot of very good points that, sadly, are missed by far too many role-players out there in MMO land.

What they don't understand is the point that your article makes so well - RP is a group effort and group experience. Far, far too many RPers have an attitude that it's all about them and their character. For example, any storytelling ceases to be a group activity and ends up being centered entirely on one person to the exclusion of all else. The result is that other players and their characters become props for their RP rather then people in and of themselves.

It's something that I've seen far, far too often in online RP, especially when it occurs within guilds/groups/communities; you end up with a handful of "cool people" who are the center of everything and then everyone else who only get any RP airtime when its useful to the first group.
