Dust off your wings and brush up on your flying technique, as NCsoft is picking up the tab for your return to the world of Atreia (at least for a weekend). Beginning Friday, July 30th at 11:00 a.m. EDT, all inactive Aion accounts will be reactivated free of charge. If that's not enough to excite the daeva in you, double XP will be in effect as well. Both promotions conclude Monday, August 2nd at 6:00 p.m. EDT.
Whether you're coming back to check out the game revisions included in the 1.9 patch, grabbing a few levels in preparation for 2.0, or just looking to kill time and catch up with some old friends, it's hard to beat the price and faster advancement to boot. Read the full announcement at the official Aion website.

I agree. I'd like to see some free trials as well...kind of wondering why there aren't any yet. In any case I think I'll check it out since my account is just sitting there, not being used.

Sorry, wouldn't pick the game back up - even if its free.
Stellar customer services combined with a seemingly brain dead NCWest has ruined the potential of this game. They continue to prove they have learned nothing (server merge fail) and ignore the real problems with the game. Just read any quote from Lani Blazier for proof.

From the offices of NCSoft West...
Customer complaint: travel is way too expensive
NCProducer: Hmm, the asians dont complain.. Whining Americans.
NCProducer2: We could lower prices by 20%
NCProducer: That would cut into the business of kinah sellers
NCProducer2: We'll cut prices by 20% and then add double the flight paths
NCProducer: Wont customers see through that?
NCProducer2: No, they are idiots.
Both: LOL

Wow. I've been thinking for months now of reactivating. This is perfect timing! Just finished up my 10 free days of Warhammer two weeks ago.
*wonders if it's possible to beat Wind Waker by Friday* Gotta get to work!

NCWest... I find myself shaking my head at them on a daily basis. Their business decisions are quite simply astounding.
A free weekend? To play my character? On a server riddled with LFG bitching due to the merges?
Great stuff. I'll keep mine inactive and enjoy the "No Subscription" message.

After canceling all transfers this game is done for good. NCS is so clueless there's absolutely no hope left. Friends/legions are split up and there's no way to join them. Epic Massive Fail.

Yeah, looks like NCWest just killed the game outright, at least for the Asmodian side. People quitting left and right, whole legions disbanded for the transfer, people with toons stranded on multiple servers. Guess NCWest were all off partying and didn't bother to watch the forums and see how so many Asmodians all planned to go to the same server because of being outnumbered by the Elyos. Wow, what a mess.
Time to hire me and let me implement my plan for a mostly PvE server for those us still around after the smoke clears. :D

Even if they hire you, NCWest has no powers to change the game around.
After experiencing Lineage II, I warned people that it wouldn't mattered what the western audience want, only what the Koreans want. I also warned them how useless the GM service is in Lineage 2.
Nobody ever wants to listen, but instead everyone persists in their fantasy how this dream Aion game will turn out. The best MMOs are always the one that hasn't been released.

I certainly would think twice before playing any game that is being made by one company and then licensed out to another company (TERA, anything run by Frogster, etc.)
But NCWest IS NCSoft, they are the same company. But NCWest, instead of being run by smart people put in place from ArenaNet (another division of NCSoft), is instead apparently little more than a front for a handful of people that just don't know what they are doing.
From release they have made mistake after mistake. How many people would have bought the game last year if we had know that, in NCWest's own words, they don't have very good tools to change things, and they are "slowly learning to communicate with the NCSoft Korea devs".... months after release! Weren't these the same people that before release were boasting about the huge effort going into westernizing the game and how everyone was working hand in hand with the devs.
Oh well, at least Aion will be an example to others of how NOT to run a game.

Checked the website and it appears that this only applies to America and not Europe. Is this true?
If so, good job NCSoft...!

Scratch that - apparently it does apply to Europe too.
I may give it a try but Im currently enjoying the free trial of City of Heroes (Ultra mode graphics are great!). I didnt think Aion was too bad when I played it just after launch but admittedly I only got to level 28 or something. Always open to giving a game a second chance though, especially after all this time - you never know, I may even give STO another go...!

If anyone is on Isphalgen let me know and we can group or rift, Asmodian side, Flog.
