It's been a quiet month for Warhammer Online players, unless you've been part of the transition of management over in Europe, but change appears to be on the horizon. Patch 1.3.6 has been in development for a little while now, and the players are getting to take it for a spin this weekend, as it's just been launched onto the Warpstone public test server. As usual, the development team is hosting a Q&A session as well as a stress test during the test phase, and while the official announcement doesn't mention any giveaways, history would seem to imply they'll be there.
Of course, all of the testing is well and good, but what does the patch actually contain? Fear not, as the full patch notes are available to read, with the major highlights covering item sets and RvR balance -- the latter addressed via the new "Against All Odds" system that gives a bonus to the underdog in RvR lakes. Items will now be customizable via appearance slots, and the Sovereign armor sets have been split into two potential sets for different playstyles. Take a look at the patch notes, and be sure to head on to Warpstone for a preview of the latest and greatest addition to Warhammer Online.

In the patch notes it says trials will not be able to trade items so if you have capes or helmets shoulder items sitting on your account now would be the time to trade them for items you want or can use.

Mythic has yet to find any real system to balance the game. They have not got close to 3 years to do it - and even tho the game is improving, they are still miles off from offering a quality overall package. The total lack of PVE focus and fixing AI and mob issues is the best example of that.

Game is a PvP game, it is billed as one by Mythic, PvE is not in anyone's mind, that is of the people that ACTUALLY play the game such as me...

Nobody is playing WAR for PvE. Mythic finally got over themselves and admitted this fact, and made the right choice in focusing on PvP for the last several patches. Putting effort into PvE just doesn't make sense with their limited resources, because that's not the game's bread and butter.

Then Mythic needs to admit that their game is nothing more than endless farm of stagnant gameplay with no highs and lows in form of game content. Capital cities taken every day - Keeps taken endless times per day. And in the end it all pointless effort cause it will turn around the minute you log off.
So... what is left is a carrot on a stick reward system. And BECAUSE there is no new content it ends up with a lvl 40 character and low renown coming up against lvl 80 rwn in top gear. And thats when the rest of those that actually bothered to level to 40... realise how they will be cannon fodder for the next 3-6 months ... And quit.
So... PVP in WAR just like every other parts of the game ... bad. Cause without any new content to fight over - no new PVE content to create and maintain the lore - and no new players that want to spend months as cannon fodder ... the game has only one way to go. Downhill.
We will see after the Europe free to play time how bad things really are. But most know it is bad.

Daedalon that's exactly what the people starving for PvP is looking for, there's a million MMO's full of PvE out there, if you want to PvE go play one of them and deal with it, otherwise stop trolling, those of us that know and ACTUALLY play the game will continue playing and bringing new players in looking for REAL PvP.

Deadalon,
Simply because you don't have the patience to gear/level/learn your class is not reason enough to state that W:AoR pvp is "bad".
I have been playing W:AoR since 3/09 and every time I try to leave for something better, their PvP keeps pulling me back in.
For a minimum time commitment W:AoR provides more individual heroic moments in PvP than any other mmog I've played...and I am awful at pvp. And play a gimped class...Engy :)
And no new content? Every battle is new...the game is filled with outstanding players who fight with skill and honor. Winning means something when it's against folks you learn to (love to) hate and when it's fought for and earned.

What you fail to understand Jonathan is that RPG and PVP dont go well together. Two characters with same levels - but one wearing itemlevel 10 - the other wearing item level 510. Thats what WAR is.... and thats probably why you play cause you need an advantage to be able to kill others.. instead of relying on your own abilites as a gamer.
I play WAR - If you didn't know than every person that had an account in EU has been playing free for the last 2 weeks. PPL know what is going on. They still see the big issues that the game has. There are few hundred ppl that say the game is perfect. Thats the ppl that are beating on others based on rwn level and items. What they dont realise is that they are playing a game that simply can not maintain the playerbase.
If ppl are starving for PVP ... how about they play on level playing ground and log into FPS. Sadly quite few of the nolifers are claiming that RGP PVP is fun.. Most of gamers disagree. Thus small budget dying games like WAR end up in maintainance mode for few years before shut down.

Oddly, I play WAR for the PvE, and I find I enjoy it more with each tweak or addition.
It was my interest in the story lore and the PvE content which actually made me care enough to play the PvP from time to time.
Most PvP bores the snot out of me, win or lose, but WAR's PvP works for me -- I enjoy it because it's rooted in the same lore as the PvE stuff quests I play through. The war is part of the game's overall story.
If WAR really was /only/ PvP, I wouldn't keep going back to it.
Takes all kinds, I guess.

I play WAR not for gear or PvE. I play it simply for the fun of the siege. I care little that some uber level 9000+ player kills me. I just enjoy the big sieges of keeps which goes on for hours. Someone will always be better then you, just deal with it.

@deadalon: Individuals with uber leet kit don't really do much on their own. It's all about who you roll with, and your skill as a team. 1 on 1 it matters, of course; one person of the same class who goes against another of the same class but with much better kit will, of course, be fighting a tough battle. But really, this game is not about one on one combat. Seriously.
You should *always* consider the fight as a group battle. Heroics are great, only if you have other heros supporting you just as strongly, and you are there to support them.
As for the "endless grind of pvp taking fortresses", what exactly are you doing in FPS games? Endlessly grinding some levels to get a high score at the end? No persistent reward given even after playing for years? What's the point? Oh yes, that's it, because it's really goddamn FUN! ;)
Again, if you're finding you can't kill anyone because you don't have shinies on your armour, join a decent guild. As a side note, I actually found that a lot of my kit was donated to me. It's in a guilds interest to kit up their guildies. But even if not, being in a good team is worth more than ANY armour.
This game has given me the most epic, heroic and bonding gaming moments I have ever had and likely ever will for a very long time. I have been part of amazing teams of people and gone from not knowing them at all to fighting off hoards of Order against all odds in a keep to hold off a zone lock so that members of our alliance can lock another zone, and get to us with reinforcements whilst we push for a capital siege. Gear is ephemeral, it takes organisation, it takes people knowing their role, it takes a leader who can command the troops, it takes everyone in your team fighting like a Spartan... The number of times I've experienced the thrill of this 300-like battle is countless, and every time leaves me with adrenaline fuelled awesomeness! THAT's why I play this game!! Sod the gear, sod the rewards or the renown points - it's the raw epic FUN of the battle that calls me... :D

NB: I work full time, and don't get back till late in the evenings, so I guess I count as a 'casual' player. That's another reason why this game works for me; I don't have to "grind for gear" like in WoW; I naturally get kit from being in awesome battles. Never done any grinding, I just log on in the evenings and have fun. Couldn't do that if I had to grind instances.

It warms my heart to see that I am not the only one coming to the defense of this game lately.
@deadalon and the others............. Just get over it and go away. We enjoy the game. It is not perfect and no MMO is perfect. They are an ever-changing/evolving work in progress.
