>>but the idea that the CSM is going to arrive in Iceland and everything they ask for is going to be immediately given is silly.

I agree but also waiting a year and a half for any major development based on CSM recommendations is also a bit silly.

Surely CCP could at least devote one SCRUM team for the CSM. I think that would help reduce considerably the drama of this debate, and restore significantly credibility issues.

This whole debacle is such a joke, that were it so wrought with self righteousness I would laugh. You have people on a rampage because they don't consider dev time on anything but internet spaceships as part of Eve. Then you have other people on a rampage about the summits (which the very fact that they exist at all is listening to the community at such a higher level than any other developer has even scratched the surface of) because they're not listening enough to the community...

Why do other developers not bother to reach out and give a shit what the community wants? Because they will NEVER be happy, because they all see things a different way, and are all pulling in different directions, and what they do will NEVER be enough. I would honestly be happier with CCP playing silent cartographer and progressing the Eve universe from behind closed doors than listening to the selfish drama queens that pervade Eve.

very well said.

I think EVE is the ultimate political MMO, and I'm not even talking about in-game system.

IMO CCP is putting their chips in their other games, EVE has been their cash cow and they are using that to fund other ventures they see as their new cash cow.

This is separate from the issues about fixing 'Design Defects' or 'bugs' as those won't gain you new players Fixing those will only keep older players longer, possibly, and somewhat prevent some players from leaving all together or less frequently, breaks for several months+ to see if things get fixed next patch. They know that new features are selling points to new players and even to bring back old players, new brings them in, fixing doesn't compare to the 'new' draw.

I doubt from their track record they will ever seriously put an effort into fixing, sorry 'redesigning defects' out of the game. Their solution is 'deal with it', to all the 'defects' in the game because they aren't interested in making a nice polished good product. We've seen that again and again as they push the release of some feature idea only to cut the legs out from under it and stick it on the next expansion.

Players are sick of seeing CCP ignore all the features/suggestions they've given, the bug reports they've filed for future releases and CSM topics all get the 'serious look' with no commitment. CCP takes the stand they care but don't commit or really ever do much of anything players have asked for, rather they do their own thing and if it might allow them to look at a CSM/player issue they consider it but still do whatever they want, when, how, and if which when it comes to player ideas is almost never.

Players are upset about that, big surprise, 18months of EVE primarily being maintained with a couple of small projects being worked on for it SO their console game can get developed and the platform for future games can be made.

Yes Eve will get incarna, but only so Eve players can beta test it like they test everything else CCP pushes out, and then they ignore player bug reports to make the ship date. Incarna is a project CCP has been 'working on' for years and now it needs so much attention EVE primary will suffer for it, the main draw is a shiny new feature to draw in more players who want to walk around. Incarna will offer that in time to come with promises that will probably get half delivered and not work correctly according to all real world sense and logic, but don't worry that's just the opinion of someone who doesn't acknowledge 'design defects' as acceptable.
