Eh, I've already seen someone use 3 swords. One in each hand, and one in his mouth, and its about the most badarse thing since Shoot'em Up.

Si!

Anime sure, but I haven't even seen a kung-fu flick ever attempt it, so its so badass that not even asian movies can replicate it.

Japanese film "Kill" had a character using 5, 2 in each hand back to back, 1 in mouth. Made of win.

Damn...
alright I take it back, thats a serious contender!

Only person I can think of that handled more was just in a game, 3 katanas in each hand. But thats a game, so I subtract a couple.
Coincidentally, I'll have to look that up.

I've seen a couple of games (For example, Final Fantasy 12) where a villain uses five or six swords at once by making them float around in a circle telekinetically. In this way you could conceivably use as many swords as can fit on the screen.

The only problem with Maple Story will be grinding to collect all those swords, although it's been so many years since I've played that perhaps the equipment availability has gone through the roof.

Well, you wanna include telekinetic swords, FF13 versus has a character who summons them.

Think I counted about 8-10, not too sure.

As for this dualblade character, they might be handling it like how some other games do, by treating dual swords as one item that takes up both slots.
