While at Comic-Con, the fan site Mos Eisley Radio tweeted a rumor that there will be space combat in SWTOR. Space combat has been strongly suspected since the announcement of player ships at E3, but there was nothing to confirm our suspicions. According to the folks at Mos Eisley Radio, James Ohlen said that each ship will be customizable, and, of course, that the player will be able to use this ship in space combat.
Not moments later, this rumor was completely confirmed by SWTOR's community manager, Sean Dahlberg, on the official forum. He confesses in his announcement, "While we didn't quite make the numbers [of Facebook and Twitter followers], we definitely saw how excited the community is about this and how everyone came together. After all of that, there's no way we could hold back with our special reveal at Comic-Con!" So it seems the devs did not punish the fans for not reaching the social media goal after all. He reveals that further details will be available in the October edition of PC Gamer.
[Thank you, Mos Eisley Radio, for keeping your ears open!]
[Editor's Note: Brooks from Mos Eisley Radio just mailed us to say that all of his information is coming from Darth Hater's liveblog, so props to Darth Hater, and thanks for letting us know, Brooks! ~Sera]

Woohoo! But, is it twitch or RPG skill-based like ground combat? Such great info but so little of it!

It isn't a proper Star Wars title without blowing away Republic scum.

@etheral.wolf How do you even know what the finished game is going to be like, it's still almost a year out. You shouldn't make assumptions until it at least goes into beta.

@Excelsior They did dumb down Mass Effect 2 into a simplistic shooter.
That's almost unforgivable.

Except that ME2 was a much more polished and overall better game than the first one.. if it wasn't, you'd have a point. But no.

@Chris So you would rather sacrifice the RPG part of the game so it can be a polished shooter? Are you stupid? Mass Effect is a masterpiece.
ME2 is a dumbed down short bus shooter made so children and the very stupid Halo / CoD fans could play it.
I'm sure EA is mostly to blame, but Bioware is too.
Even the sex scenes are dumbed down, lol.
I'm sure The Old Republic is going to suck for people that like good games but since EA is part of it then it will be a good enough WoW clone to make some profit.
All they really need to do is pull an Avatar and put tons of commercials everywhere and the weak minded will come running saying how great of a game it is and how original it is, lol.

I'm sure Bioware is relieved to know you guys may possibly find a way to forgive them. And what western MMO couldn't in some way, shape or form be called an EQ/WoW clone? Nothing revolutionary was ever promised, just a better Star Wars MMO than we currently have.
If it needs to break the mold for some to be happy, then we'll just have a miserable minority for a long, long time.
