Just a few days after the preorder bonuses were released and beta signups began for DC Universe Online, Sony Online Entertainment unveiled the central lineup of voice actors for the game.
Some of the names are familiar and unsurprising, but still nice to have confirmed. Mark Hamill will be voicing The Joker once again, and Kevin Conroy returns as Batman. SOE highlighted the two returning actors with a short video on the DCUO site entitled "The Voices of the Game."
Fans of Joss Whedon's work were interested to see several familiar names in the list: Gina Torres as Wonder Woman, James Marsters as Lex Luthor, and Adam Baldwin as the voice of Superman.
Michelle Forbes rounds out the cast list list as the voice of Circe.
John Blakely, SOE's Vice President of Development, says "We're excited that not only will Mark and Kevin bring their talent back to the DC Universe as part of DC Universe Online, but we've hit the jackpot with a full cast that are veterans of movies, TV shows and games that our fans are crazy about."

Darn you're horribly effective all-star geektopian voice casting!
Now I'm hopelessly compelled to follow this game after all... *sigh*

Hopefully the game will be as good as the voice work

Definitely love the voice-cast. And the action-y gameplay sounds like a nice change of pace. And of course the PS3 participation makes this no slouch.

They obviously learned something from the wise moves of Batman Arkham asylum.
DCUO was already on my must have list. Now this just makes everything dreamy with this voice cast.
I think I might have to get the Collector's edition now.

Yeah, that did it. This just went from a "we'll see" to a "must find cash for pre-order".

Ah hell yes. Awesome news!
It's hard to play games like CO and not wonder whether they just got the dev team to do voices.

Developers are becoming more intelligent on the benefits of professional/star voice casting.
This is really a massive boost for DCUO in the eyes of literally millions of fans.

Awesome Jayne reference. And Baldwin is super-cool in person too. I had a pic taken with him at DragonCon a few years back and he insisted on crouching to put himself in line with my shorter height because he thought my picture would come out better that way. Most of those folks don't tend to care but he was chuckling and cracking jokes the whole time.

They could get Adam West as Batman for all I care any more - ever since they offered preorder bonuses to everyone except the UK, me and my friends wont have anything to do with this.

Well, they've clearly learned from the immersion-breaking voiceover in EQ2 (where the acting was fine, since they got tons of veteran cartoon actors like Corey Burton and Steve Blum, but had them voice twelve chars each), but I'm still not crazy about VO in MMOs as a whole. It's faster to read, it keeps it in the same mode of output as your own speech, and to me it just feels more natural.
But then, as an RPer I am the furthest thing from this game's target demo anyway.
