Have they made any announcements yet regarding PS3 and PC gamers sharing the same server? or will it be segregated?

It was announced a few weeks ago that PC and PS3 players would be segregated from each other by playing on separate servers.

That's a major bummer for me.

Thanks for the quick reply Celestial.

I'm not totally sold on this game. I plan on buying it because I am an MMO junkie and it might give me a reason to have the station pass active (which would open up a ton of games for me lol). But I do like the direction of some of the new MMOs are taking with making combat more action oriented. Time will tell...

I like the look of the game, but I'm not sure how I feel about any MMO that charges a box + subscription fee + micro-transactions.

It's a great business model because you're essentially triple charging the customer and I imagine the profit margin on the micro-transactions is stupid high. I might consider a F2P + micro-transaction model ... at least then, you're only getting charged once for the content that you're consuming.

Even charging for two out of the three options (box, sub, micro) would be better than all three.

I don't care about the tri-income model emerging in MMOs. Really, if they decide to make a cool looking shirt or mount or whatever and want to charge $5 (or $25) for it then what do I care? Would they have ever even made said shirt or mount otherwise? Probably not.

If this model ends up costing more than the game is worth playing to me, if it out balances the fun factor then I would un-sub and move on to the next competitor. It is the wonderful nature of a free market system. Win win for everyone :)

They said it will be seperate.

Only game that has ever had cross platform servers is ffxi and soon to be ffxiv

Im really interested in seeing how they managed to do both controller and kb/mouse friendly controls, since Square Enix has pretty much failed at optimizing for both types of controls with FFXIV (beta, okay, that might change, but im still curious).

You should have tried FFXI on PS2 and 360, great controls with the controller. Typing of course needed a keyboard/chatpad but that was all you needed it for.

Pretty annoyed that they are not planning preorder deals for the UK.. I mean were hardly some unknown backwater, its insulting.

Now anyone wanting a preorder bonus in the UK like me is forced to buy it from abroad, costing us considerably more.

Which for me at least, puts my relationship with DCUO and myself on the wrong foot, right from the get-go because it implies I as a potential customer because of my geographic locale am not considered as important as those other locales they are covering.

UK gets their own set of pre-order bonuses, check the EU Playstation blog for the details.

Did you read the interview above? he was asked specifically about the UK, he said they'll be watching folks reactions but not at this time none are planned.

Plus I'm looking at this for PC not PS3 as I suspect are a whole bunch of folk

I did indeed read the interview above, but I also saw these very official looking flyers yesterday:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/playstationblogeurope/4811291429/

so when he says no additional information to what has already been released, I am assuming that these EU pre-order bonuses are considered previously released information. Sometimes it takes all the ducks a while to form in a proper row (if you go to the Target link from the DCUO page, for instance, they have no pre-order bonuses listed, even though the DCUO site does).

Maybe Im being blind, but these clearly show they relate to the PS3 version and nowhere does it say it relates to UK. Unless you can point out otherwise?

Who would have thought that the day would come where SOE looks better in the public eye, then a company like Cryptic? Trust me, I can't stand that putz Smed, but I like that he flat out said no, that preorder items won't be available after the game launches. Unlike Cryptic who told their players everything was exclusive, then barely 3 months later drop all those items on the store out of desperation.

No! I get the feeling you don't currently play a SOE game.
