While the summer days are hot and those hammocks in the shade are inviting, Cryptic Studios is choosing to spend the season gearing up for hefty content releases. In the latest State of the Game report, Champions Online's Executive Producer Shannon "Poz" Posniewski outlines a number of features, fixes and fluff that's going into the next patch and beyond.
For August, Champions Online plans to implement a number of quality-of-life improvements to the game. These include more supergroup features (such as a better UI and supergroup advertisements), overhauling pet powers, an improved C-Store, and giving Millennium City's Ren Center a much-needed visual update. They're also slipping in a few new costume options, so if you've been waiting for the latest in Champions high heel shoe fashion, then wait no longer!
Moving on to the fall, Posniewski is excited to announce a new adventure pack entitled "The Demonflame." The pack is based on a Champions pen-and-paper module, and involves bad people opening portals to places better left alone. Check out the full point-by-point Poz poetry at Champions Online's site!

"an improved C-Store" huh?
All I can think of in response to that is..
"We can rebuild it, we can make it faster, stronger, more expensive..."

They're always revising pet powers. I don't think they have ever not been doing that. It's like its impossible for them to get it right or something...
I do have to say though that the supergroup ads and search sounds pretty amazing. I haven't personally played a game that did that yet, and it would help immensely to get people to play their game if a good SG was easy to find.
The new way to get civilian missions sounds like a much better way to handle things too.
Ever since the big man stopped interfering, it seems like they're listening and the game is getting better.

No new content until September? That's kind of...
.... sad?

Something more substantial than a series of quests that are repeatable and last no more than a few hours? How is that more than just a bandage applied to a leaking hull?

I'll take Cryptic over SOE any day. At least they seem to be trying to improve their games.

Right.. where SOE adds in two new raid zones, a brand new starting area, a complete and total revamp of the shader engine, a storyteller system to track storylines... Cryptic does what for CO?
A quest series that can be completed in 30 minutes, high heels, and tights.
I'm impressed.

OK You got me on EQII, but what about the rest? Vanguard players pay the same as EQII players and barely get bug fixes.
